    Pearl D. Bailey
    ROSSVILLE- Pearl D. Bailey, 84, died Friday, April 27, 2007 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born on October 21, 1922 at Augusta, the daughter of John and Cora Lusk Brecht. Mrs. Bailey graduated from Emporia High School in 1941. Mrs. Bailey worked four years as a cashier at J.C. Penney's Co. in Emporia and 17 years for the Delia Grade School USD 321. She later was the secretary of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer at the Rossville Community Library and at Let’s Help in Topeka. Mrs. Bailey was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville, the Rossville Literary and Music Circle, the Grove Harvest Grange, the Shawnee County Pomona Grange-Kansas State Grange and was a 7th Degree member of the National Grange. On July 13,1946 she was united in marriage to Max A Bailey. They began their married life on the Bailey family farm north of Burlington until the John Redmond Reservoir forced them to move in 1962. They bought a farm northeast of Delia living there until the death of her husband on May 28, 1979. Mrs. Bailey had lived in Rossville for over 20 years. Survivors include four sons, John T. (Nancy) Bailey, Hoyt, Steven A. (Susan) Bailey, Topeka, Kenneth F. (Cindie) Bailey, Delia, and James M. (Tina) Bailey, Mayetta; a daughter Carol Ann (Terry) Ronnebaum, Topeka; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Delia. Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery north of Silver Lake. Mrs. Bailey will lie in state after 5:00 P.M. Monday at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville where there will be a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. Memorial Contributions may be made to Midland Hospice, Rossville Senior Center or the Rossville Library and sent in care of Piper Funeral Chapel, 419 Main, Rossville, Kansas 66533 Online condolences may be sent to www.piperfuneralhome.com
