    The marriage of Judy Spetter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Spetter of Rossville, and Verlon Cress, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cress of Mayetta, was solemnized at 9 a.m. June 19.

    Father Schultz read the nuptial mass in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Rossville. Altar boys were Kenny and Donny Macha of Rossville. Mrs. Joe Campbell, organist, provided the wedding music.

    The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor- length gown of Chantilly lace designed with a fitted bodice, bridal point sleeves, and scalloped sabrina neckline. The skirt of lace tiers extended into a chapel-length train. Her veil was held by a headpiece trimmed with pearls and crystals. She carried a bouquet of pink roses.

    Linda Glotzbach of Topeka was maid of honor, and the bridesmaid was Sarah Spetter, sister of the bride. They wore matching floorlength gowns of pink styled with empire waist-line and lace bodice. Their bouquests were of white carnations.

    Best man was Vernon Cress, brother of the groom, and Keith Hug of Mayetta was grooms man. Ushers were Mike Cummings and Earl Queen.

    Becky Jo Hippensteel, niece of the bride, carried the bridal train. Alice Cummings was flower girl and ring bearer was Jimmy Hippensteel, nephew of the bride.

    A reception in the Rossville Community Center followed the ceremony. Assisting at the refreshment table were Mrs. Cornelius Cummings and Mrs. Edward Macha.

    Verlon and Judy Cress celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with the renewal of their vows on Friday, June 19,1992. Father Jim Shaghnessy, Marysville, officiated the ceremony. The couple was married June 19, 1967; Mrs. Cress wore her wedding dress to her 25th anniversary celebration.

    Verlon and July have five children: Sharlene and her husband, Shawn Cooper; Tabetha Jo Cress, Sarah and her husband, Ted Perez; Tabatha Lynn Cress and Jennifer Cress. There are three grandchildren, Christopher and Robert Cooper, and Falicity Cress.

    Tabatha Lynn Cress and Michael Anthony Large exchanged marriage vows in a 3 p.m. ceremony Sept. 24, 1994, at the home of the bridegroom’s parents in Topeka. The Rev. Robert J. Farnsworth officiated.

    Parents of the couple are Verlon R. and Judy F. Cress, Delia, and Kenneth E. and Carol K. Large, Topeka.

    Tabetha Smith, Carbondale, was her sister’s maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Penny Finley, Topeka, and Dana Morgan, Maple Hill.

    Tracy Large, Topeka, was his brother’s best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Large’s brother, Jeffery Large of Olathe, and Sean Thornton, Topeka.

    Falicity Ann-Marie Cress, daughter of the bride, was the flower girl. Christopher Cooper, Harveyville, was the ring bearer. Music was provided by Eric Gates, Topeka. The bride's sister, Sharlene Cooper, Harveyville, recited a poem.

    Teresa Heine, Rossville, was the guest book attendant. The bride’s sister, Jennifer Cress, Delia, was the gift attendant.

    Josh Cress, Delia, brother of the bride, escorted the bride’s mother.

    The bride is a graduate of Rossville High School. She is a secretary at Westwood Plumbing.

    The bridegroom is a graduate of Highland Park High School and attended Kansas State University. He is majoring in mechanical engineering at Washburn University. He is a department manager at Southwest Publishing in Topeka.

    Verlon and Judy Cress, Delia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Tabatha Lynn, to Michael Large, son of Kenneth and Carol Large, Topeka.

    Ms. Cress is a graduate of Rossville High School and is employed by Knights Inn, Topeka.

    Mr. Large is a graduate of Highland Park High School, attends Washburn University, and is employed by Southwest Publishing Company, Topeka.

    The couple is planning a September 24, 1994 wedding.
