    Mrs. Rachel Dannefer
    Mrs. Rachel Dannefer, 91, of Rossville, and a resident of Kansas 72 years, died Sunday in a Topeka hospital.
    She was born February 5, 1852, in Norway and came to the United State with her parents when she was three years old, settling in Westby, Wis. They came to Kansas in 1872 and settled on a homestead in Republic County.
    At the time of her death, she was believed to have been the last Republic County homesteader.
    She was married to Nelson Dannefer in 1872 in Belleville. They operated a store at Cuba, Kansas, for forty years. After her husband’s death in 1915, she moved to Rossville to make her home with her son, Frank Dannefer.
    She was a member of the Lutheran Church at Westby, Wis.
    She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Hattie Kennedy, Sabetha; three sons, Edwin E. Dannefer, Eskridge; William E. Dannefer, Omaha, and Frank E. Dannefer, Rossville; a brother, Robert Jacobson, Westby, Wyo.; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held in the Rossville Presbyterian Church, Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. N. P. Olney officiating.
    Music was furnished by Mrs. Loma Jamieson, Mrs. Arline Reid and Miss Edith Higginbotham.
    Pall bearers were Marvin Davis, Frank Zook, Ky Prater, Allyn Hartzell, Norman White and I. O. McMahan.
    Burial was in the Rossville cemetery.
    Out-of-town relatives here for the funeral of the late Mrs. Rachel Dannefer were: Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Dannefer, Eskridge, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. E. Dannefer, Omaha, Neb., Lieut. And Mrs. M.D. Kennedy, Camp Campbell, Ky. Friends here included Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Chester May, all of Eskridge; Mrs. Melly, Mr. and Mrs. Ray White, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shideler, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Shideler, all of Topeka.


    We wish to express our deep appreciation to the many friends and neighbors for their kind and thoughtful acts; for their expressions of comfort and sympathy; the beautiful floral offerings and in their assistance in our sorrow, the loss of our beloved mother and grandmother.
