    Beatrice Johns
    Beatrice Johns, 89, Topeka, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1992, at a Topeka nursing home.

    Mrs. Johns was secretary to the assistant state insurance commissioner and later to the state attorney general.

    She was born Oct. 2, 1902, in Topeka, the daughter of Edward C. and Chettie James Kassebaum. She was graduated from Topeka High School and Washburn College in Topeka.

    Mrs. Johns was a member of First Presbyterian Church, American Association of University Women and Alpha Phi sorority. She was a life member of Kansas Historical Society, Friends of the Zoo and Artists Association.

    Her husband, Will Johns, died in 1965.

    Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Northern Area Office, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road, 66604; American Heart Association, 5375 S.W. 7th, 66606; or to the charity of the donor's choice. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
