    Edith W. Keucher
    1916-2011
Edith W. Keucher died at Memorial Medical Center on Monday, January 10th, 2011, surrounded by family members at her bedside. Mrs. Keucher was born on November 1,1916 in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. She was born on All-Saints Day, which seems very fitting, as everyone whose lives she touched felt that she was a saint!

She is survived by her two daughters, Peggy Savage (husband Donald), and Sherry Cormier; five grandchildren, Carol Hausman (husband Jim), Douglas Savage (wife Krista), Dennis Savage (wife Christina), Christiane Unico (husband Jon), Lisanne Cormier; and seven great-grandchildren, Quinton Savage, Clayton Savage, Kayden Savage, Zoey Savage, Reid Savage, Maggie Hausman, and Sierra Cormier Bell.

Mrs. Keucher graduated from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA and later graduated magna cum laude with a master's degree from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. She taught music, band, and art at Rossville, KS, where she and her students built the props for all of their musical presentations. She also was a substitute teacher for the Detroit, Ml schools. She was a gracious, generous volunteer of her time and talents, as she taught piano to low-income children in Detroit and volunteered at the local hospital in Ohio weekly. She was a loving partner with her husband in the
churches that he pastored in Philadelphia, PA,, El Dorado, KS, and Detroit, Ml, as well as when he served as Executive Minister of the Kansas Baptist Convention and during his presidency at Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, KS. Mrs. Keucher was a fine musician, and was organist at Gage Park Baptist Church in Topeka, KS and First Baptist Church in Granville, OH. She directed the handbell choir there as well. Most recently she played piano for the Sunday evening chapel services at Concordia Village where she resided. She loved flowers as well as music, and she planted and maintained beautiful flower gardens everywhere she lived.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 15th, at 10:30 A.M., with Dr. Edward Libby of Rockford, Illinois officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hausman Charitable Foundation, Helping Others, at 3000 West lies, Springfield, IL. 62704. (This is a charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of people in Central Illinois through donations of food and other humanitarian contributions.) Memorials may also be made to Central Baptist Theological Seminary, 6801 Monticello Road, Shawnee, KS. 66226.

Mrs. Keucher"s family members express great gratitude to the staff at Concordia Village where she resided, to the staff at Memorial Medical Center who cared for her during her hospitalization, and to her physician, Dr. Nicole Florence. Their compassionate care and support is much appreciated.
