    Viola Kovar Chervenka, Rogers, Tex., became the bride of Stanley Davis, Topeka, in a double ring ceremony Saturday, September 26, 1992, at the Ocker Brethren Church at Zabcikville, Tex., with the Rev. Gene Kotrla officiating. Music was by the bride’s granddaughter, Susan Haisler Branes.

    Given in marriage by her son, W. Glen Chervenka, Bryan, Tex.; daughters, Delores Haisler, College Station, Tex.; and Esthere Luksa, Alamo Tex. The groom was presented by daughters, Carolyn Sage, Topeka, and Beverly Martinek, Wimberly, Tex.

    The bride wore a two-piece Seafoam suit of soft whispers of lace on her bridal suit, which featured a V-neckline with a tiny bow and pearl beads about the lace, three-quarter length sleeves and a fitted skirt.

    Maid of honor was Gladys Kovar, sister-in-law of the bride, Temple, Tex. Matron of honor was Leona Faulk, Rossville, cousin of the bride.

    Best man was A.W. “Tony” Machalek, Temple, Tex. Groomsman was Delbert Faulk, Rossville.

    Ring bearer was the bride’s great-granddaughter, Stephenie South, Waco, Tex. The bride’s cousin, Martha Machalek, Temple, Tex., was in charge of the registration table and guest book.

    Seating the guests were — Dustin Martinek, grandson of the groom, San Marco, Tex.; Kevin Chervenka, Austin, Tex., and Paul Haisler, College Station, Tex., grandsons of the bride. Thomas Luksa, grandson of the bride, ran the video.

    A reception followed in the Ocker Fellowship Hall. Serving at the bride’s table were the bride’s granddaughters, Cindy Chervenka DeWitt, Bryan, Tex.; Natalie Chervenka, Waco, Tex.; and Rebecca Luksa, Alamo, Tex. Serving the groom’s cake were the groom’s daughter, Carolyn Sage, and the groom’s granddaughter, Tracy Sage, both of Topeka. Coffee was served from a silver coffee service by the groom’s daughter, Beverly Martinek, Wimberly, Tex.

    A catered dinner was served to 75 guests before the dance. The dance was held at Seaton Star Hall at Sexton, Tex. The grand march was led by Glen and Freda Chervenka for the wedding party.

    VIOLA LYDIA KOVAR
    CHERVENKA DAVIS

    Viola passed away Oct. 1, 2009.

    She was born March 7, 1921, the daughter of Frank and Emma Kovar, Rossville.

    The Kovar Family later moved to Roger, Tex. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1939.

    On May 20, 1945, Viola married Woodrow Chervenka. Over the years they farmed in the Leedale, Tex., area.

    Viola was involved in 4-H as a leader in the Leedale Home Demonstration Club, and a member of the Ocker Brethren Church until she moved to Bryan, Tex., in 2004.

    She loved to dance, especially the Polka, and was once privileged to dance with Lawrence Welk. She loved to quilt, grow flowers and travel.

    She was preceded by her husband of 47 years, Woodrow Chervenka; husband Stanley Davis of 12 years; parents Frank and Emma Kovar; and brothers Raymond and Otis Kovar.

    Survivors include a son Woodrow (Freda) Chervenka; daughters Delores (Walter) Haisler and Ester (Marvin) Luksa; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several cousins in Kansas.
