    COLEEN A. KEEFFE

    Coleen A. Keeffe, 81, Osage City, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka.

    She was born March 16, 1930, in Osage City, the daughter of William and Alice Martin Lane.

    She was married to James A. Keeffe in 1950.

    Coleen graduated from Osage City Rural High School in 1947. She moved with Jim to Omaha, Neb., in 1950 and returned to Osage City after one year.

    Coleen was a beautiful seamstress and a wonderful cook and as such worked for the Osage City schools in the lunchroom for over 25 years and was the food service director for most of those years. She has helped nourish thousands of children and many others in the community through catering and gifts of food. Her specialty was her cinnamon rolls and pies.

    Her family was the love of her life and she is survived by her children: Debra (Bob) Best, Oskaloosa, Diann (Jay) Lutackas, Rossville, Jim (Lori) Keeffe, Osage City and Jerry (Angie) Keeffe of Osage City; her grandchildren, Angela (Kris) Shopper, Jay (Jennifer) Dalrymple, Jozi (Paul) McGowan, Jessica (Joe) Simecka, Lindsay (P.J.) Heptinstall, Trevor Keeffe, Mallory Keeffe, Jordan (Darcy) Keeffe and Dalton Keeffe; great-grandchildren, Haley and MacKenzie Dalrymple and Maddison Heptinstall; and six step-grandchildren.

    She also is survived by her sisters Darlene Haskins, Osage City, Maxine Criqui, Pomona and her brothers, Bobby Lane, Chaney, Tom Lane, Carbondale and Gary Lane, Burlington, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    She was preceded in death by husband Jim who died in December 1990; her parents Bill Lane and Alice Lane Black and step-father John Black.

    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 30, at the First Presbyterian Church, Osage City.
    Interment will follow at the Osage City Cemetery.

    The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 29, at the First Presbyterian Church.
