    Margaret M. Ketter
    Margaret M. Ketter, 91, St. Marys, died Sunday, June 5,2005, at her home in St. Marys.

    She was born August 14, 1913, in Delia, the daughter of Peter and Nellie Rose Grace Lane.

    Margaret had lived in the St. Marys community for many years. She grew up in the Delia community and attended Delia schools. She had received her teaching certificate and taught school for several years at Stony Point School, and later at Immaculate Conception School in St. Marys.

    Margaret worked as a telephone operator in Silver Lake to help support her family during the war years. She had worked at St. Marys Surplus Store and at Verschelden Funeral Home and later Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys.

    On November 28, 1942, she married Ambrose W. Ketter at Delia. He died April 6, 1986.

    Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ellen Sievers, Kathleen Matyak, and Mary Eloise Hansen, all of Topeka; four sons, Louis Ketter and Ambrose J. Ketter, both of Topeka, Jerome Ketter and Terrence Ketter, both of St. Marys; two sisters, Eleanor Baumchen, St. Marys, and Delores McCormick, Wausau, WI; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a. m. Wednesday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday (this evening), at Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys 66536.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
