    Mrs. S.W. Zickefoose Dead

Word was received yesterday (Monday) by Mrs. E.R. Haas, 419 Quincy Ave., of the death at Los Angeles of her mother, Mrs. Effie M. Zickefoose, widow of Sampson W. Zickefoose, formerly of the police department here and at one time chief of police of Wichita.

Mrs. Zickefoose left here a week ago Saturday to visit Mrs. Kate Smith, a sister, at Los Angeles and became ill on the train on the way to California. Death followed an operation for hernia at a Los Angeles hospital.

She is survived also by two sons, B.A. Zickefoose of Philadelphia and Harry Zickefoose, Dodge City, KS., and another sister, Mrs. J.W. Lowe of Holdenville, Ok., who accompanied her on the trip. Funeral services will be held here and burial probably will be in Rossville, Ks.
