    Miss Fern Pendleton was the guest of honor Wednesday evening at Riverside park in St. Marys, where the Girl Scouts gave her a miscellaneous shower. Together with the picnic supper and swimming party the guests had a happy time. The guests included: Miss Pendleton, Maxine Stovall. Josephine Barney, Lulu Rachel Dannefer, Geraldine Fawl, Norma Jean Fawl, Frances Eversole, Patty Lee Eversole, Anita Smith, Henrietta Ferguson, Dona Goodrum, Ruby Countryman, Bernita Hayes, Audrey Hayes, Jean Baird. Vena Mae Countryman, and Ruth Whearty. Mrs. Ethelyn Ferguson and Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Parr accompanied the party.

    Of exceptional interest because of
    the culmination of school day romance, and the popularity of the couple, was the wedding this morning of Miss Fern Pendleton niece of Mrs. Chettie Howard, and Mr. Clyde Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rogers of the Willard neighborhood.

    The wedding took place at the Methodist parsonage at Riley, Kansas, at 10 o’clock, the Rev. Wright M. Horton officiating.

    The bride was lovely in a navy blue triple sheer gown with white linen accessories and carried a bouquet of pink roses and baby breath. Miss Irene Bond, life-time friend and chum of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and was attired in an afternoon gown of gray sheer crepe with brown accessories. She wore a corsage of red roses.

    Mr. Joe Campbell of Kansas City, was best man.

    Mrs. Rogers has grown to womanhood in Rossville, completing her grade and high school work in the Rossville schools. She graduated with the class of 1926, She also attended Kansas State and summer school at Kansas University. She has taught in the Rossville grade school for the past seven year and has been an active worker in the church circles and for several years has labored and successfully led the Girl Scout organization. She is one of Rossville’s popular and winsome girls with a sunny disposition, endearing her to everyone.

    Mr. Rogers, while a resident of the Dover-Willard community, has been popular among his Rossville associates. He also attended Kansas State after completing his high school work end for a number of years has been successfully farming

    Following a wedding luncheon at the Wareham hotel in Manhattan, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers left on an overland honeymoon trip to points in Colorado, Teton, Yellowstone and Glacier National parks, Canada and home by way of Salt Lake City.

    Rogers-Fritz wedding in Rossville church

    Jane Irene Rogers of Rossville and Jerry Fritz of Silver Lake were married at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 6, in the Rossville Methodist Church.

    The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Rogers of Rossville, attended Kansas State University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Mr. Fritz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Fritz of Silver Lake, also attended Kansas State University and this summer was employed by Mid-Continental Construction Company of Wichita.

    Both are enrolled at Emporia State College at Emporia for the fall term.

    The Rev. Don Jones officiated at the wedding ceremony, Mrs. J.C. Campbell, pianist, and Mrs. Don Berkey, soloist, provided music.

    The bride chose for her wedding a gown of imported hand-clipped Chantilly lace, with a fitted bodice with a scalloped sabrina neckline embroidered in sequins and seed pearls. Self-lace roses formed a curve on the back of the very full skirt which extended into an aisle wide chapel train. The veil of nylon tulle was held by a lace tiara embroidered in sequins and seed pearls. She wore a heart-shaped diamond necklace, a gift from the groom. Her bridal bouquet was a Colonial bouquet of feathered white carnations and petite pink roses.

    The bride's attendants were Mrs. Richard Wood, Omaha, Linda Rezac, of Rossville, and Mrs. Charles Albright, of Silver Lake. Candles were lighted by Janet Louise Campbell, Rossville and Heather McAlpine, of Benton Harbor, Mich.

    The attendants wore gowns of shell pink Italian raw silk with Chantilly lace. The gowns were designed on sheath lines and featured square necklines, cap sleeves and tunics of matching Chantilly lace. They carried Colonial bouquets of feathered pink carnations.

    The candle lighters wore dresses of shell pink cotton satin with fitted bodices and full gathered skirts. Their headbands matched their dresses.

    Catherine Parr, flower girl, wore a shell pink cotton satin dress with a fitted bodice and full gathered skirt. She carried a basket of rose petals. Bobby Fritz, of Bloomington, Ind., carried the rings on a heart-shaped satin pillow, made by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Warren Pendleton.

    Attending the bridegroom were Gene Allen, Concordia; Don Rogers, Rossville; and Charles Albright, Silver Lake.

    The reception was given at the home of the bride after the service. Assisting were Mrs. Rolland Parr, Rossville; Mrs. Robert Taylor, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. C.B. Guth, Wamego; Monroe and Barbara Fritz, Bloomington, Ind.; Mrs. William Hesse, Mrs. H.C. McCoid, Mrs. W.W. Pendleton, Mrs. H.N. Stiles, Laura Stiles, Marilene Pendleton, all of Rossville, Mrs. Fred Zaleuka, and Mrs. Duane Hudson, Topeka.

    After a wedding trip to Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz will be at home at 1005 East Sixth, in Emporia.
