    LAWRENCE, Ks. -- Kathy M. Schumaker Brinkman, 35, Lawrence, formerly of St. Marys, died Monday, Oct. 21, 1991, at a Lawrence hospital. She had cancer. She had been a secretary for the Center for Research Inc. in Lawrence.
    She was born Feb. 4, 1956, in Wamego, the daughter of Lawrence W. and Mary Martinek Schumaker. She was graduated from St. Marys High School in 1974, and from Brown-Mackie Secretarial School in Salina in 1975.
    She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. She was married to Richard Brinkman July 23, 1977, in St. Marys. He survives.
    Other survivors include a daughter, Heather Brinkman, at home; a son, Kristopor Brinkman, at home; her parents, Lawrence and Mary Schumaker, St. Marys; three sisters, Teresa McClure, St. Marys, Mary Beth Rafferty, Emmett, and Jeanette Schumaker, Lawrence; and grandparents, Henry Martinek, Rossville and Cecilia Schumaker, St. Marys.
    Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wed. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Mrs. Brinkman will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence.

    She was born February 14, 1956, in Wamego, the daughter of Larry and Mary Martinek Schumaker. She was graduated from St. Marys High School in 1974, and from the Brown Mackie Secretarial School, Salina, in 1975.
    Kathy was married to Richard Brinkman July 23, 1977, in St. Marys. He survives.
    Other survivors include a daughter, Heather Brinkman, and a son, Kristopor Brinkman, both at home. She is also survived by her parents, Larry and Mary Schumaker, St. Marys; three sisters, Teresa McClure, St. Marys, Mary Beth Rafferty, Emmett, and Jeanette Schumaker, Lawrence; and two grandparents, Henry Martinek, Rossville, and Cecilia Schumaker, St. Marys.
    Kathy was a member of St. John's Parish, Lawrence.
    A rosary will be recited at 7:30 Tuesday evening (this evening) at Verschelden Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Church; interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
    Memorials may be made to St. John's Catholic Church, Law-rence.
