    Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rafferty, St. Marys, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 28, in the Centennial Building, St. Marys. Hosts will be their children and families: Robert and Agnes Rafferty; Keith and Dorothy Rafferty; Richard and Barbara Rafferty; Raymond and Cheryl Rafferty; and Robert and Carol Flerlage. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. The couple requests that no gifts be presented.

    ST. MARYS — Nona Rafferty, 85, St.
    Marys, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996, at a St. Marys nursing home.

    Mrs. Rafferty was a school teacher in I the Dover area upon graduating from high school. She was later a cook for Rossville High School and St. Marys Manor nursing home.

    She was born Nov. 11, 1911, at Dover, the daughter of Stanley and Susie Williams Smith. She lived in the Dover, Willard, Rossville and St. Marys communities. She graduated from Dover High School.

    Mrs. Rafferty was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys.

    She married Edward Rafferty March 0, 1932, at Westmoreland, Kan. He died Dec. 30, 1988.

    A son, Richard L. Rafferty, died March 11, 1985.

    Survivors include three sons, Robert E. Rafferty, Rossville, W. Keith Rafferty, Alamo, Texas, and Raymond V. Rafferty, Kerrville, Texas; one daughter, Carol Heim, Topeka; four sisters, Martha Miller and Helen Fouraker, both of Wamego, Thelma Dick, Holton, and Ruth Mahoney, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; one brother, Lewis Smith, Wamego; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at St. Marys. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary s Manor Library Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.

    Nona Rafferty

    She was born November 1911, in Dover, the daughter of Stanley and Susie Williams Smith. She had lived in St. Marys many years.
