    Margaret Vande Velde
    Emmett-Margaret Vande Velde, 95, died Friday, November 27,
    2009 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

    She was born November 20, 1914 at Lenexa, the daughter of Adolph and Effie Mareten Soetaert.


    Before Mrs. Vande Velde was married she worked in the family truck gardening business and in several different doctors' offices in the Kansas City area. She was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Emmett and was a member of the Altar Society at the church. She had lived in the Emmett community since 1939.

    On August 1, 1939 she was united in marriage to Raymond Vande Velde at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newbury. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1966. A son, Kenneth Vande Velde also preceded her in death on January 7,1983.

    Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Blair, Colorado Springs. CO; three sons, Joe (Carol) Vande Velde, Rossville, James (Lorraine) Vande Velde and Ed Vande Velde all of Emmett; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mrs. Vande Velde will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Piper Funeral home where there will be a Rosary at 7:00 P.M.     Margaret Vande Velde, 95, Emmett, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
