    The Delia Presbyterian Church will be the setting for the marriage of Arlene M. Holcomb, Delia, and Mr. Clayton M. Pusch of Topeka. The vows will be solemnized Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dwight Seneker officiating.

    The nuptial music will be provided by Carolyn Zlatnik, Mary Lou Williams, and Mrs. Ira Williams, organist, and Elinor Mach, Aurora, Colo., soloist. John Bowers of Manhattan will sing a guitar solo. Tony and Rocky Cusic, Manhattan, will light candles. Thirty candle holders will be lighted.

    Mrs. Dora Ross of Delia will attend as matron of honor.

    The bride will be assisted down the aisle by her eldest son, Don Holcomb.

    Mr. Pusch has chosen his eldest son, Carroll Pusch, as best man. Dennis and Danny Holcomb, with Roger and Gary Pusch, will be ushers.

    A reception in the church will follow the ceremony. Teresa Goodrich, Topeka, assisted by Darlene Diel and Lois Cianciarulo, Topeka, will cut the wedding cake. Joan Miller of Belvue, Peggy Baker, Burlingham, Betty Moore, Topeka, Vannie Pusch, Topeka, and Sue Gabat of Rossville, along with Doughs Floersch and Sloopy Huggins of Delia, will serve refreshments.

    Receiving gifts will be Phyllis Cusic, Manhattan, Doris Pusch, Jackie Peek, and Shirley Kelley, Topeka. Linda Zappa of Topeka will be at the guest book.

    Bride-Elect Honored — Mrs. Arlene M. Holcomb, Delia, will be guest of honor at a kitchen shower Sunday given by Mrs. Darlene Diel, Topeka, in her home. She will be assisted by Mrs. Sharon Sage of Auburn.

    Mrs. Holcomb and Clayton M. Pusch will exchange marriage vows at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, in the Delia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dwight Seneker officiating. No invitations have been issued and friends and relatives are invited to attend the ceremony and reception which follows.

    Wednesday, Mrs. Holcomb will be honored at a miscellaneous shower at the Delia Presbyterian Church. Hostesses will be Mrs. Dora Ross, Mrs. Pauline Miller, Mrs. Teresa Miller, Mrs. Ivalue Miller, Mrs. Elizabeth Houck and Mrs. Margaret Hejtmanek.

    She also was honored recently at a personal shower given by Mrs. Sue Greenleaf, Mrs. Jeannie Eames, Mrs. Vicky Woodson, Billy Barraclough and Cecilia Anders in the Embassy Apartments. Guests were Mrs. Holcomb s fellow employees at Blue Cross-Blue Shield.

    Two Couples Repeat Vows in Protestant Ceremonies

    The Delia Presbyterian Church was the setting Saturday for the marriage of Arlene M. Holcomb, Delia, to Clayton M. Pusch, Topeka. The Rev. Dwight Seneker officiated. Candlelighters were Tony Cusic and Rocky Cusic, Manhattan.

    The bride was escorted by her son, Don Holcomb, Delia, and Mrs. Dora Ross, Delia, was matron of honor.

    Carroll Pusch was best man for his father, and ushers were sons of the couple, Dennis Holcomb and Danny Holcomb, Delia, and Roger Pusch and Gary Pusch, Topeka.

    A reception in the church followed the ceremony.

    Arlene Thompson Looker

    Arlene Thompson Looker passed away on April 13, 2021, at the University of Kansas Hospital, St. Francis Campus in Topeka. She was born October 22, 1930, in Delia to Eleanor (Simecka) Thompson and Curtis Thompson. She graduated from Delia High School in 1948. She spent two years teaching in a rural one-room schoolhouse.

    Arlene was a member of West Side Christian Church. She held several positions: Chairperson for Delia Alumni High School Reunion, supervisor judge for Shawnee County elections, member of ABWA, served Stonecraft Ministry for years. She enjoyed Civic Theater as a hostess for fund-raising events. Arlene was a member of the YWCA therapeutic exercise group for 20 years. Her greatest joy was serving the Lord as a caregiver for relatives and church shut-ins. Arlene was Mrs. Santa Claus at Christmas for 30 years in Colorado and later for nursing homes in Rossville and St. Marys and the Presbyterian Manor.

    The name "General" was given to Arlene by volunteering for community service in Denver. She had over 80 men and women in her group volunteering in charity events in Denver and Boulder. Cancer drives, Kops & Kids, Cherry Creek Sneak, autism, and the Denver Symphony for over 10 years are a few of the charities she helped with. Before retiring from Colorado Blue Cross & Blue Shield with 25 years of perfect attendance, she received a special large salad bowl engraved with "Outstanding Community Service," 1989-1990 from the Colorado Lt. Governor.

    She married Otis Holcomb on April 19, 1950, they divorced. She married Clayton Pusch on November 27, 1971, they divorced. She married Jim Looker in 1977, they divorced.

    Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, brother Marvin Thompson, a sister, Neysa Porter, her son, Dennis Holcomb, in March of 1996, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Holcomb.

    Survivors include two sons, Don (Barbara) Holcomb, Topeka, and Dan Holcomb, Denver, CO; one sister, Vivian Bartello, Morro Bay, CA; a brother, Nels (Shari) Thompson, Topeka; grandchildren, Eric Holcomb, Lawrence, Mark (Hillary) Holcomb, Phoenix, AZ., and Kristie, Adam, Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren, Graham, Bryce, Ellie, Katlin, and Jacob.

    A Celebration Of Life Visitation will be at a later date. Inurnment is private at Adrian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka-Shawnee County Library and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
