    Marriage- VandeVelde, Mary-Haug, Ralph
Are married on July 17 at Holy Cross Church

Nuptial vows were exchanged between Mary Alice Vande Velds, Emmett, and Mr. Ralph Haug Jr., St. Marys, at 9:30 a.m., July 17, in Holy Cross Church, Emmett. The Rev. George Seuferling officiated at the ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. August C. Vande Velds, Emmett, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Haug Sr., St. Marys.

Mrs. Ed Marstall, Kansas City, was organist and accompanied Mr. Marstall and Mrs. Regis Haug, also of Kansas City, vocalists.

The bride's father gave her in marriage. She wore a gown of silk organza over taffeta. The basque bodice was styled with traditional bridal point sleeves, a scalloped sabrina neckline etched with seed pearls and iridescent sequins. Overlays of Florentine lace enhanced the bodice and continued into the bouffant skirt. A self-fabric flange trimmed the back of the skirt and was caught up by a self-fabric bow that released the sweep train.

Her tiered veil of silk illusion was held by a forward crown of lace beaded with seed pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses. Her only jewelry was a diamond pendant, a gift from the bridegroom.

Mrs. Galen Rezac, Emmett, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a street-length dress of mint green, designed with a lace jacket and a modified bell skirt.

Mrs. August Vande Velde, St. Marys, sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Karen DeVader, Emmett, cousin of the bride, were bridesmaids. They wore dresses identical to the matron of honor, in pastel pink and yellow. The attendants' headpieces were of a self-fabric rose trimmed with matching net. They carried a cascade bouquet of tipped carnations matching the color of their dresses.

Sandy Vande Velde, sister of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a mint green dress featuring a scoop neckline and a full skirt. Jeff Haug, brother of the bridegroom, was ring bearer.

Bill Haug, St. Marys, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Jim Mees, St. Marys, and Gary Ross of Topeka were groomsmen.

August Vande Velde Jr., St. Marys, and Jerry Payne, Louisville, were ushers. Robert Vande Velde, brother of the bride, and Edwin DeVader, Emmett, served the nuptial Mass.

A reception and dinner followed in the parish hall. Assisting were Mrs. Floyd Weber, Mrs. Gary Ross, Topeka; Miss Carol Smith, Emporia; Mrs. Don Leiber, Waterville; Judy Bond, Anita Vande Velde, Cathy Vande Velde, sisters of the bride, Mrs. Joe McGrath, Mrs. Edward DeVader, Mrs. Joe DeVader, and Mrs. Ralph Morford, Emmett.

Mrs. Haug is a graduate of Emmett High School and is presently employed by the St. Marys State Bank.

Mr. Haug, a graduate of St. Marys High School, is a junior at KSTC, Emporia, and is presently employed by the Santa Fe Railway in Topeka.

After a honeymoon trip to Colorado, the couple is at home at 512 Maple in St. Marys.
