    Mrs. Georgia Vilven
    Mrs. Georgia Vilven, 88, Wamego, died Thursday, March 1, 1990, at a Topeka hospital. She had been ill two months.

    Mrs. Vilven assisted her husband with Harmony Gardens, a wholesale florist business in Wamego, before they retired. They also operated a catfish farm near Wamego.

    She baked dozens of cookies for Kansas State basketball teams during the Christmas holidays many years.

    She was born Nov. 16, 1901, in Louisville, the daughter of George and Florence Elizabeth Reinhart Witts, and spent her life in the Louisville community.

    Mrs. Vilven was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Wamego, Wamego Historical Society, Wamego Chamber of Commerce and the Mike Ahearn Club at Kansas State.

    She also was a member of Kansas Commercial Fish Growers Association and National Catfish Farmers of America. She was a former member of Lioness Club, Hillbillies Bridge Club and 4 to 12 Bridge Club.


    She was married to Wilford Vilven Dec. 5, 1923, in Louisville. He died May 10, 1980.
    Survivors include three nieces,
    Rossville, and Wanda Omer, Albuquerque, N.M.; and a nephew, Wallace Vilven, Wamego.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Burial will be in Wamego City Cemetery. Mrs. Vilven will lie in state after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Wamego City Hospital.
