Obituary- Baker- John W.

John W. Baker died at his home in the south part of town Monday afternoon from a stroke of paralysis.

The funeral was held yesterday afternoon in the Presbyterian Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Nelson, after which the body was interred in the city cemetery.

Mr. Baker was stricken with a paralytic stroke at about 9 o'clock last Friday evening at his home. Medical aid was unable to give relief and he lingered in a semi-unconscious condition until Monday afternoon when death came to his release.

Mr. Baker was one of the pioneers of Rossville and had an extensive acquaintance. He was an old soldier and the members of the post here were in attendance at the funeral.

Mr. Baker leaves a wife, 2 children and 3 step-children to mourn his death. A brother, Thomas B., arrived from Martinsville, Ill., in time for the funeral.
