Obituary- McCollough, Fred P. 1

Fred McCollough
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary for Fred P. McCollough, 97, Rossville, who died Sunday night in a Topeka hospital where he was readmitted Wednesday. He had a heart ailment.

He was born Dec. 16, 1873, north of Rossville and spent most of his life in the Rossville community. He attended Campbell College at Holton and taught several years in Shawnee County rural schools. He was manager of Mulvane Ranch west of Rossville 51 years.

Mr. McCollough held the distinction of being one of those at the head of the list of long-term subscribers to The Daily Capital, having been a subscriber of the newspaper more than 70 years.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Hesperian Lodge No. 111, AF&AM, both of Rossville, and Native Sons and Daughters.

He was married to Amy K. "Dollie" Ross Aug. 6, 1896. She died Sept. 8, 1932. A son, Joab McCollough, died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Sarah Lewis, died Nov. 24, 1967.

Survivors include a son, Ross I. McCollough, Rossville; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret McCoid, Silver Lake, Mrs. Mildred Sneller, 1126 Medford, and Mrs. Winifred Anderson, Tulsa, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church at Rossville.
