He was born June 11, 1922.

Mr. Boone has worked in the office machines business for 60 years and has been a business owner for the last 32 years.

He and his wife, Virginia, were married June 21, 1944.

Their children and spouses are Ken and Laura Boone, San Antonio; Jim and Patti Boone, Auburn; and Ilene and Bennie Besta, Rossville. Their son, John Boone, is deceased. They have nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was born Sept. 26, 1923, at Pawnee City, Neb. She married Martin Brock in 1942, and they lived in the Delia community. Mr. Brock died in 1976.

Mrs. Brock is retired from the Kansas Corporation Commission.

Mrs. Henrietta Cerney [sic Cerny] of rural Rossville celebrated her 91st birthday anniversary Friday. Her family was home, and many friends and neighbors called. She also received a number of congratulatory cards.

Although confined to a wheel chair, Mrs. Cerney is cheerful and appreciates friends calling.

Clarence Clark, Rossville, was 80 years on October 1. He was born and reared in Paxico. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Clark. On March 8, 1919 he was married to Elizabeth Busch. The couple lived in the Paxico community about 10 years, then moved to the Maple Hill community. In 1940, they moved to Rossville. Mr. Clark was a farmer. They left the farm in 1949, and moved into town where Mr. Clark was employed by Shawnee County until he retired in 1961.

They are the parents of four children -- Floyd Clark, Eskridge; Richard Clark, Topeka; Marguerite Theis, Manhattan; and Donald Clark, who is deceased. They thoroughly enjoy their nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The families got together on Sunday, October 3, at the Rossville Community Center to enjoy a noon dinner and fellowship. Grandpa Clark received many useful gifts from his family and shared his birthday cakes and homemade ice cream with everyone.

Celebrates 90th Birthday
Relatives and friends gathered at the home of James K. Conley Tuesday to help him celebrate his 90th birthday anniversary. A dinner with Mr. Conley as honor guest was a feature of the gathering.

Mr. Conley was born March 10, 1846, on a farm near PenYan, Yates County, New York, and lived in that vicinity until he was grown. He was married, September 29, 1870, to Laurana Howard, of South Shaftsbury, Ver., who had been teaching school near Pen Yan. The young couple came to Rossville on their honeymoon, liked the people and the country and made this community their permanent home. Mrs. Conley's parents, her brothers, David M. and Otis Howard, her sisters, Mrs. C.W. Higginbotham and Mrs. Leander Mosely, also came to Rossville and became residents of this community. Mrs. Conley passed away [missing remainder]

Theodore William Conley's Birthday

Theodore William Conley, son of Mr. and Mrs. S.H. Conley, celebrated his eighth birthday today and had about thirty of his school companions as guests at a dinner today noon. Grandpa and Grandma Conley gave the dinner at their home. A big cake with eight candles adorned the center of the table and "Billy" and his little friends adorned the table's sides. Mrs. Martin and daughter Fay, who are noted cooks, had provided plenty of chicken, and tarts that usually tickle the palate of a lusty youngster and the dinner was voted the best ever. Mr. and Mrs. Conley also had as guests Mrs. Violet Cahill and children, Mrs. Lulu Pendleton and children of Silver Lake, Mr. and Mrs. S.H. Conley, Mrs. McCoy, Miss Helen McPherson and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Navarre.

RVM Resident Is 100 Years Old
One hundred years ago Sylvia G. Kern Corke entered the world! On May 30, 1902 at Valley Falls, Sylvia became the first daughter of Benjamin and Emma Kern. She was the fourth of nine children. Mrs. Corke graduated from Valley Falls High School and Strickler’s Business College and taught school until April 20, 1924, when she married Clyde M. Corke.
Homemaking brought special joy to Sylvia, especially her two children, Gene (deceased) and Glenn. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening, and crocheting. In addition, Sylvia was an active member of the North Topeka Baptist Church.
Since 1992, Mrs. Corke has resided at Rossville Valley Manor. She continues to be a soft-spoken, gently woman much loved by family and friends.

Mrs. Davis was born in Shawnee County. For 14 years she lived in Chicago, where she worked for the Victor Adding Machine Co. and for R.R. Street and Co., industrial chemists. In 1951, she moved to Topeka, where she worked at the Topeka Supply Depot for 10 years. She retired in 1983 after 21 years of service with the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Patricia “Pat” Dohrman will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open reception on Sunday, Dec. 6, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Maple Hill Senior Citizens’ Center, Maple Hill.
The celebration will be hosted by Pat’s children Jack Hennessey and Brianne Hampton, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; Rick and Linda Dohrman, Delia; and Janice (Jan) Dohrman, Topeka; with special help from Pat’s sisters Phyllis Hirst, Beverly Flanders and Shirley Flanders.
The family welcomes Pat’s relatives, friends, and neighbors to join us in this celebration of her life.
Pat married Lee Dohrman on April 30, 1949. They celebrated close to 56 years of marriage together. She has lived in the St. Marys community for over 60 years.

Mrs. Mary Ford has her "Twentieth" Birthday

The "twentieth" birthday anniversary of Mrs. Mary Ford of this city was celebrated yesterday by herself, relatives and friends in a very quiet way, the event being mainly observed in calls made during the day.

Having been born on February 29, eighty-four years ago, there have been only twenty February 29th in her life, the year 1900 not being counted as a leap year.

Mrs. Ford still maintains her home and enjoys fairly good health. Her many friends join the Reporter in extending greetings.

Enjoyed Rare Birthday

Mrs. Mary Ford, 80, was given a delightful surprise birthday anniversary dinner last Friday, February 29, by her children, who helped her celebrate her "20th birthday." In 1928 Mrs. Ford will celebrate her "coming of age" by the recurrence of her leap year birth date.

While all the Children were not present, each one participated in some manner to make it a merry event. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ford and family, of Silver Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman James and family came in unannounced at the noon hour with baskets well-laden and Mrs. Ford was presented with the following packages from her children who live in Oklahoma City: A delicious chocolate cake from Mrs. Emma Enos, a beautiful box of candy from Mrs. Lulu Ward and an angel food cake carrying 80 candles and sweet peas from Mrs. Alice Stuve.

During the day Mrs. Ford received many calls from her Rossville friends and was remembered with 41 birthday cards.

Mrs. Ford was born in Menden, Michigan, coming to Kansas when she was 19 years of age and has lived in and around Rossville since that time. She is enjoying good health and is still quite active, a fact her many friends here and friends living in other communities reached by the Reporter will be glad to know.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mason entertained a few little friends Wednesday evening Feb. 15, honoring Laird French on his 10th birthday anniversary. After playing a short time, they all gathered around the table and sang "Happy Birthday, to Laird," then Laird blew out the candles all at once. Ice cream and cake were served. Mrs. French baked the lovely cake. Before they departed his Daddy presented him with a fine new wooden wagon.

Pastor Gee Reaches 40
Thursday evening a group of friends and neighbors met at the Rossville Bible Church to celebrate Pastor Floyd Gee's birthday. After a 6:00 o'clock dinner, the evening was spent in conversation and music. A nice time was reported by all who also wished him many happy returns of the day.
