| Anniversary- Kovar, Emial and Carrie 2 Emial and Carrie Kovar Celebrated 50th Anniversary in Rossville
On Sunday, August 1, friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Emial Kovar, Rossville, gathered at the American Legion Hall to honor the couple on their 50th wedding anniversary. Guests were greeted at the door by the Kovars’ nieces, Mrs. Edith McClain, Rossville, and Mrs. Marcia Terrill, Topeka. Mr. and Mrs. Kovar’s daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Davis, Route 8, Topeka, stood with them as they received their guests at the reception. Nieces of the honored couple, Patricia Tomson, Rossville, and Joyce Thompson, LaVetta Seitz and Betty Seitz, all of Topeka, assisted with the serving of refreshments - punch, a three-tiered cake, nuts and mints. The Kovars’ granddaughters, Mrs. Beverly Martinek, Delia, and Mrs. Carolyn Sage, Topeka, attended the gift table.
Many relatives of the Kovars traveled a great distance to be with them on this special occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Edd Kovar came from Wenatchee, Wash. Edd Kovar is Mr. Kovar’s brother and was the best man at their wedding, August 4, 1926. Other family members from out of this immediate area were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kovar, Atchison; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kovar, Overland Park; Mr. and Mrs. George Kovar, Merriam; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kovar, Shawnee Mission; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard McCollough, Overland Park. Mrs. Helen Helms, Wichita, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Kovar. Mrs. Helms stood in proxy at the reception for her sister, Mrs. Alice Cemy Seitz, who was the couple’s maid of honor 50 years ago. Mrs. Helms is Carrie’s youngest sister.
Also traveling a great distance to see the
Kovars were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tichy, cousins of Carrie arid Emial, from Wilbur, Nebr. The couple received a surprise phone call from Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hebrew, relatives who live in Delta, Colo.
Many relatives, friends and families made the Kovar’s Golden Wedding Anniversary a joyous one with their many cards, gifts and good wishes.

50th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. George Kovar, 10120 W. 61st, Merriam, Ks., observed their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house February 17 at the Overland Park Christian Church.
The reception was hosted by their two children, Mr. and Mrs Gilbert Kovar and Mr. and Mrs. Richard McCullough, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Kovar were both born and raised in the Rossville- Delia community. Both are graduates of Delia High School. Mrs. Kovar is the former Vivian Zickefoose.

Rudolph and Wilma Krasny were married May 1, 1931, in Topeka. They have been living and farming in the Delia and Rossville area the entire fifty years.
They have twin daughters, Mrs. Marie Harden, Rossville, and Mrs. Mary Martin, Silver Lake; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ernest and Wilma Kratina celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise reception and dance on May 1 at the Arab Shrine Temple in Topeka.
The event was hosted by their children and their spouses, Ernest and Sheila Kratina, Rossville; Larry and Carol Harris, Topeka; Gary and Linda Ross, St. Louis; Douglas and Sharon Brehm, Topeka; and Cynthia Kratina, Topeka. The Kratinas also were parents of another son, the late Bradley Kratina.
Ernest Kratina and Wilma Hotzel were married May 3, 1944, in Topeka.

George and Pat Kratina will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception today at the Goodyear Shelter House, 2000 NW US-24 Highway in Topeka.
Hosts will be their daughter, Debra Hazim, son-in-law Karim and grandsons Isaiah and Josiah.
They were married Sept. 17,1957, at the Muscogee County Courthouse in Columbus, Ga„ by Judge Hunter. The couple have lived in the Silver Lake-Rossville area all their lives.
George retired in 1996 from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with 38 years’ service. He also retired from the Kansas Army National Guard in 1993 after 23 years. Pat retired in 1996 from USD 372 with 23 years’ service as a secretary and transportation supervisor/driver.

Hosting the occasion will be their children, Richard and Cindy Langworthy, and their grandchildren. Their son, Terry W. Lambert, is deceased.
Marcial Robinson and Elmer Lambert were married June 30,1948, at Seaman Congregational Church, Topeka.
Mr. Lambert retired in 1986 from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 31 years of service. Mrs. Lambert retired from Kaw Valley USD #321 in 1990.

| Anniversary- Lambotte, Gus and Malvina Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lambotte, and children Velma, Mabel and John attended the Golden wedding’ anniversary of Mrs. Lambotte's mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Gus J. Lambotte, of Junction City, held at Solomon, last Friday, May 12. About sixty relatives and friends gathered at the youngest son’s home to celebrate the event. Dinner was served at noon in cafeteria style. A large golden and white decorated cake and two decorated angel food cakes formed the centerpiece of the table. Many lovely gifts were re¬ceived, among them a radio, presented by the seven children. Mr. and Mrs. Lambotte have seven children, twenty-seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, all of whom are living. All were present excepting one son of Kanapolis, Kansas, and one grand daughter and great grandchildren of Omaha, Neb.
The Milford radio station dedicated several musical numbers to Mr. and Mrs. Lambotte, and extended congratulations to the couple during its afternoon program.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lambotte, former residents, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary January 3 at the home of their daughter, Miss Velma Lambotte, in Manhattan. Their other daughter, Mrs. Glen May of Atlanta, Kansas, was also present.
The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rasmussen and Mike of Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. Olin Kaul and Kevin of Topeka, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lambert of Rossville, Mr. and Mrs. George Lambotte, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Lambotte and Christina, Mrs. Maudie Croyle, Mrs. Martha Lambotte, all of Dover.
Mr. and Mrs. Lambotte sold their home in Rossville about ten years ago and moved to Manhattan. They have three children, Mrs. May of Atlanta, Miss Velma Lambotte of Manhattan and John Lambotte of Kentucky.

Bill and Ruth Larson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception, dinner and dance from 4 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27 at the American Legion, 442 Main Street, Rossville.
Ruth E. Spears and William Larson were married Jan. 25,1957 in Topeka. Their sons and spouses are Robert and Annie Larson of Rossville and James and Pamela Larson of Lenexa.
Their grandchildren are Charlotte and Jared Pemberton of Fayetteville, NC; Garrett Larson of Rossville and Rex Larson, Trey Borchers and Victoria Borchers of Lenexa.
Their great-grandson is Desmond Pemberton of Fayetteville, NC.
The Larsons would enjoy sharing this special event with all their friends and relatives. They request no gifts, please.

Hosts will be their children, Barton Larson, Columbia, Mo., and Carol Larson Heintzelman, West Plains, Mo. They have two grandchildren.
Gerald Larson and Ruth Beskow were married April 28, 1946, in Lyndon. They have lived in Rossville 41 years.
To keep the celebration a surprise, their children request that no phone calls or cards be sent to the couple before the reception. Cards may be sent in advance to their daughter, Carol Heintzelman, 1907 Kelly Drive, West Plains, Mo., 65775, to be presented at the reception.

Gerald and Ruth Larson, Rossville, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner on April 28.
Gerald Larson and Ruth A. Beskow were married April 28,1946, in Lyndon.
Their children are Barton and Phyllis Larson, Westphalia, Mo., and Carol and Gary Heintzelman, Cheyenne, Wyo. Their grandchildren are Tracey Larson Ott, Kansas City, Kan., and Hillary Larson, Columbia, Mo.
The Larsons operated the Olivet grocery store before moving in 1954 to Rossville, where they operated a gas station for several years and built a mobile home park. Gerald worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Rossville and retired in 1975. Ruth taught in Osage County for 10 years before her marriage, then was a homemaker and helped with their businesses.

Mr. and Mrs. Lasswell were married on Christmas day 1911 in Topeka. They lived on a farm north of St. Clere for forty-five years before moving to St. Marys.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lasswell will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary December 25, 1986, quietly at their home in St. Marys.
The couple, accompanied by Harley Seigle and Emma Rezac Peddicord, rode the train to Topeka to be married. They returned to the home of the bride’s parents, where a bountiful meal was served to relatives and friends.
The first 46 years of their married life was spent on a farm north of Emmett. Twenty-nine years ago Roy and Agnes moved to St. Marys.
They are the parents of two daughters, Mrs. George Lucas, Topeka, and Mrs. Marvin Davis, Rossville. The Lasswells have five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren — five generations.
Friends and relatives are encouraged to help them in the observance of this anniversary with cards and visits.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill LeBlanc, St. Marys, will observe their 40th wedding anniversary with family on Sunday, February 14, Valentine’s Day.
Their children and grandchildren are: Bill LeBlanc, Jr.; Shelly LeBlanc and Jesse Brown; Rex, Peggy, Philip and Shannon LeBlanc; and David LeBlanc.
Bill LeBlanc and Nadine Heder were married in the Immaculate Conception Church, ST. Marys, on February 14,1953. Bill is the manager of Payless Cashways, Inc., Topeka, and Nadine is a real estate agent and broker with Pearl Real Estate, St. Marys.

| Anniversary- LeBlanc, William and Nadine 2 LeBlancs Celebrated Golden Anniversary
Nadine and William LeBlanc, St. Marys, celebrated their 50lh wedding anniversary February 14. Nadine Heder and William LeBlanc were married February 14, 1953, at Holy Family Church in Alma.
Their family hosted a dinner in their honor, and the couple enjoyed a trip to Laughlin, N.V and Sedona, AZ.
Their children are: William “Billy” LeBlanc, Shelly LeBlanc and David LeBlanc, all of St. Marys. A daughter, Renee LeBlanc, died April 18, 1975, and a son, Rex LeBlanc, died November 21, 1995.
Nadine and Bill have four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mr. LeBlanc served in the Kansas National Guard during the Korean War. He retired from Payless Cashway after 25 years of service, and managed the Payless Cashway store in Topeka for 23 years. He now owns and manages a cattle operation near St. Marys.
Mrs. LeBlanc was employed as secretary for the Jesuits at St. Mary’s College in St. Marys for 13 years, St. Marys Grade School secretary for USD #321 for six years, and has been an active real estate Associate Broker in the St. Marys area for the past 29 years.

MR. AND MRS. EVAN LEWELLING, Rossville, will celebrate their Golden Anniversary with a reception at the Delia Community Center on Sunday, June 5, from 2-5 p.m. The couple asks that no gifts be presented.
Since their wedding on June 1, 1927 at Holton, the couple has lived in the Delia, Soldier and Rossville communities. They are the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Laverne Zlatnik, Delia. Their son. Dale, was killed in a traffic accident in 1961. The Lewellings have three grandchildren - Mark, Caroline and Alan; and four great-grandchildren - Julie, Shiela, Scott and Melissa Zlatnik.

Mr. and Mrs. Evan Lewelling, Rossville, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at the Delia Community Center Sunday, June 5.

Golden Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde, Rossville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on the 16th and 17th of July in Missoula, Mont.
The hosts on the 16th were Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Lynde and Carolyn Rogers, at Carolyn’s home. Dr. and Mrs. Loren Rogers entertained with a reception at the Elks Club on the 17th. Miss Mona Lynde, their daughter, was also a guest at both receptions. The couple has three grandsons and one granddaughter.
Elmer and Ethelyn were married at Helena Cathedral on July 17, 1937. Mr. Lynde was a soil conservation contractor for 25 years. After living in Montana for nine years they moved back to Kansas in 1946.

Cletus Manhart and Louise Reiter were married June 8, 1963, in Beloit. He taught high school math and industrial arts in Beloit and Rossville for seven years and then was a computer programmer for 30 years —15 years each with the state of Kansas and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. He retired in 1997. She has worked 21 years as a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service.
They have five children: Steve Manhart, Wichita, Jerry Manhart and wife Karen, Shawnee, Karen Manhart, Silver Lake, Jo Fair and husband Brian, Wichita, and Jason Manhart, Topeka; and six grandchildren: Abbie and Chad Manhart, Shawnee, Brandon, Easton, Trenton, and Carson Fair. Wichita.

Their children are Mr. and Mrs. Dean Marney, Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Laiten Marney, Great Falls, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. Tim Dale, Omaha; and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Marney. There are 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Marney have lived in Rossville all of their married lives. Mr. Marney is a retired Santa Fe employee.
