Robert H. “Bob” and Teresa Marney, Holton, will celebrate their 50lh wedding anniversary as guests of honor at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005, at the Rossville Senior Center, 429 Pearl, Rossville.
Teresa Besta and Bob Marney were married May 14, 1955, at the Rossville Methodist Church, Rossville. They lived in Delia for 39 years before moving to Holton in 2004.
Hosts will be their three children and their spouses: Gary Marney, Holton, and his fiance, Leslie Cunningham; Sandy and Scott Allen, Holton; and Kim and Mark Davis, Topeka. The couple has eight grandchildren: Joshua Marney, Manhattan; Torri Marney, Heather Marney, and Taylor Allen, all of Holton; and Lannie Allen, Erin Miller, Ethan Davis, and Sean Davis, all of Topeka.
Mr. Marney retired from Santa Fe Railway in 1991 after 43 years of service.
Mrs. Marney retired from Hallmark Cards in 1993 after 28 years of service.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Martin, Rossville, will observe their 64th wedding anniversary Thursday.
Married April 30, 1906 at Plymouth, Ind., they spent their early married life on a farm in that community. Later they farmed near Lebanon and then lived in Dover and Horton. They returned to farming near Effingham in 1953 and since their retirement in 1959, they have lived in Rossville.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin are the parents of 12 children. They have 34 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.

| Anniversary- Martin, Frank and Dora 4 Celebrate 63rd anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Martin of Rossville quietly observed their 63rd wedding anniversary on Apr. 30.
They were married at Plymouth, Ind., Apr. 30, 1906, and spent their early married life on a farm in that community. They later moved to Smith County in Kansas. After farming near Lebanon, they resided at Dover, and later Horton.
Due to ill health they moved to Horton in the spring of 1951, and in 1953 back to a farm near Effingham. Since their retirement in 1959, they have lived in Rossville.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin are the parents of 12 children:
Herschel Martin, Willard Martin, Mrs. Lucille Hadden, Mrs. Myrtle Wikkerink, all of Topeka;
Mrs. Minnie Wilbert, Atascadero, Calif., Mrs. Doris Schuetz, China, Calif.; Lloyd Martin, Chateau, Mont.; Paul Martin, Whiting;
Mrs. Elsie Shaw, Dover; Mrs. Pauline Shaw, Richland; Mrs. Erma Montgomery, Topeka; Mrs. Helen Bloomfield, of Eskridge.
There are 34 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
All of the children and grand-children are living.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin were presented with a beautiful plant by their neighbors.

Albert Martinek and Frances Badura were married at the courthouse in Topeka by the judge on June 23, 1920, and have lived in the Rossville community all their lives. They farmed and lived in the country until 20 years ago when they moved to their home on Main Street.
The couple has one daughter, Blanche Bales, Topeka.

25TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Martinek were pleasantly surprised Saturday evening when a group of friends and neighbors came in to help them celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary.
They received many lovely gifts. Among them was a set of silverware from JoAnn and Mary.
The evening was spent visiting and watching television. At a late hour, refreshments of home made ice cream and cake, sandwiches and ice tea were served.

Following the services, they went to dinner at Jensons Restaurant to honor Mr. and Mrs. Martinek's Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Vince Martinek were married February 15, 1916, at Pawnee City, Nebraska. They have three children, Mr. Marvin Martinek of Arvada, Colo., Mrs. Marge McDaniel of Silver Lake, and Mr. Melvin Martinek of Manhattan. They have four grandchildren and one great grandson.

MR. AND MRS. VINCE MARTINEK observed their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday. They were married February 15, 1916 at Pawnee City, Nebr., and have lived all their 60 married years on a farm north of Silver Lake.
They have three children: Marvin Martinek, Arvada, Colo.; Marjorie McDaniel, Silver Lake; and Melvin Martinek, Colby, Ks. They also have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A family gathering was held for them over the Christmas holidays.

The table was decorated with a beautiful cake shaped like a Bible. A bouquet of yellow and gold mums was sent to the couple by her sister, Miss Ada Leeper, of California.

Mr. Matney retired in 1990 after 43 years of service in the sales of auto parts at various car dealerships.
Mrs. Matney retired in 1983 from the area accounting staff office of Southwestern Bell in Topeka after 40 years of service.

Paul Matyak and Genevieve Grace were married July 26th, 1945, at Sacred Heart Church and made their home in Delia. They started their own auto repair business, Matyak's Garage, in 1945. Paul worked as an auto mechanic and Genevieve handled all the accounting and record keeping for the business and customers. He recently retired after 45 years of service to the Delia community. She is still employed as treasurer of the Delia City Council.
The Matyak's have nine grandchildren.

Mr. Matyak, who owned and operated Matyak’s Garage in Delia, retired after 45 years of service. Mrs. Matyak was bookkeeper for Matyak’s Garage for approximately 45 years and was Delia city treasurer or 19 years.

Luther C. and Edith M. McClain, Rossville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by taking a trip to the Carolina coast lines and Southern Gardens. After they returned home, a reception was held in their honor, on April 21, at the Rossville United Methodist Church during the fellowship time.
Reception hosts were their daughter, Shelley Braden, her husband Roger, grandsons Adam and Bruce Braden, Manhattan, and Brian Braden, Rossville. A family dinner was held afterwards at China Inn in Topeka.
Luther C. McClain and Edith M. Cerny were married April 16, 1952, in Las Vegas, NV.
Mr. McClain farmed for several years before he started the McClain Amoco business, the McClain Propane business, and two Auto Parts stores. He has been in business in Rossville for 50 years.
Mrs. McClain worked in the People's State Bank of Rossville before becoming a full-time homemaker.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. McCoy of Delia were honored with a basket dinner at their home Sunday, March 22, in observance of their 67th wedding anniversary. Their wedding anniversary was March 20.
Present were Mrs. Zita Allen Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Burgett, Gary, Terry, Greg of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Mulinax and Donnie of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dolkrman and Miss Dorothy and Miss Peggy Sheapard of St. Marys; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hanrahan, Pat and Marlene, Patricia Allen and Mrs. Mary Hanrahan of Delia.
Mr. and Mrs. McCoy received several nice gifts and many cards and they want to thank all those who remembered them.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob McCoy, Rossville, were honored with a card party Saturday, November 27, in observance of their 40th wedding anniversary.
Their daughters, Mrs. Linda Seitz and Mrs. Lois Lacock, and their families hosted the party. A number of their friends and relatives spent the evening playing cards and reminiscing about the “good old days.”
The couple’s grandchildren, Sharon, Ronda and Brenda Seitz, and Renae, Jeannie and Kerry Lacock, helped with the serving of refreshments. Mrs. Irene Cowger, a friend of the family, made the beautiful anniversary cake.

Prior to the party, the McCoys, Seitzes and Lacocks enjoyed a dinner at the Mainstreeter in Rossville.

Glen is the son of Clara and the late Melvin McCrory of Mayetta and Karen is the daughter of Clarence and Bonnie Kranz of Denison.
Their children and spouses are Matt and Tracy McCrory and Stan and Sarene McCrory, all of Rossville, and Brent and Melissa McCrory of Emporia. Their grandchildlren are Brooke, Logan, Garrett, Abigail, Breck and Ellei.

Bill and Marge McDaniel, Silver Lake, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 28.
They celebrated early by taking their family on a vacation to Lake Haven Resort near Durango, Colo. Attending were their daughter, JoAnne Glenn, Steamboat Springs, Colo., and their son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Luwana McDaniel, Silver Lake, and their three grandchildren and two step- grandchildren.
Bill McDaniel and Marjorie Martinek were married Sept. 28, 1944, in Jacksonville, Fla., where Mr. McDaniel was a Navy pilot.
Mr. McDaniel is retired from Stauffer Communications and Mrs. McDaniel retired as secretary at Silver Lake High School.

| Anniversary- McElvain, Melville and Josephine 1 Mr. and Mrs. McElvain were taken by surprise last Friday evening Mar. 19, when a number of their friends and relatives gathered at their home to celebrate their forty first wedding anniversary. The crowd entered carrying a beautiful rocking chair which they presented to the sur¬prised couple. The evening was pleasantly spent in playing games and music was furnished by Irene Howard and Gladys Eversole. At a late hour light refreshments were served consisting of cake and fruit salad.
