Vicki was born May 10,1945, in Topeka, the daughter of Edward and Rosemary McElvain Cunningham. She attended Assumption Grade School and graduated from Hayden Catholic High School in 1963. Vicki was a prominent realtor in Topeka for 45 years. She began her real estate career in 1972 and worked for several companies before finishing her career with Reece Nichols. Her deep business and personal relationships remain strong to this day. Vicki was an active member of First Church of Christ Scientist and she served on the board of Helping Hands Humane Society. Vicki enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends. She was greatly loved and left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Grateful to have shared her life are her nephew, Jon Cunningham; niece, Dana Cunningham; grandniece, Allie Cunningham; grandnephew, Brandon Cunningham and sister- in-law, Vicki J. Cunningham. Vicki was preceded in death by her parents and her broth¬er, Thomas Cunningham in 2013. His death resulted after a few days serious illness. Mr. Cunningham was a part owner of the present Delia townsite when it was opened for sale ten years ago. The name Delia being taken in honor of his mother. The funeral was held yesterday at Delia and interment made in the Delia cemetery. | |

She was born September 12, 1888, at Vesta, Nebr., the daughter of William L. and Martha Crouse Adams. Mrs. Curran lived in the Mayetta community since moving from the Delia and Hoyt communities in 1945. She was married to John C. Curran June 4, 1921. He died January 21, 1967. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Betty Buehler, Mayetta; two sons, William R. Curran, Holton, and John F. | 4905 |  | Obituary- Curran, Donald Donald E. Curran Donald E. Curran, 82, of rural Lawrence, died May 14, 2015 at his home. He was born in Delia, Kansas on September 9, 1932, the son of Jennings and Beulah (Hurla) Curran. Donald served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1994 from the Lawrence Paper Company where he had been a forklift operator. He married Sharon Houk at St. Peter’s Church in Big Springs on June 4, 1960. She survives. He is also survived by his children, Laura Warner of Lawrence, Randy Ponaid E. (Becky) Curran of Carbondale, KS, Curran jeff (joyce) curran of Garden City, KS, Christy Curran and Don Curran II, both ol Lawrence, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two brothers, John and Phillip Curran, three sisters, Rosemary Gosser, Elizabeth Beavers and Joyce Wilson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Bob Curran and two sisters, Mary Kent and Donna DeWitt. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be cel¬ebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church. Curran, 69, Lecompton, who was dead on arrival at a Topeka hospital Tuesday. Dr. Antonio Huaman, deputy district coroner, said Mr. Curran had a heart ailment. Jennings Curran was born April 17, 1900, at Dawson, Neb. He lived in the Rossville and Delia communities before he moved to Topeka. He lived in Topeka 13 years and spent the past 12 years at Lecompton. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church at Big Springs. He was employed by Santa Fe Railway before he retired. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beulah Curran, at home; five sons, Joseph Curran and Phillip Curran, both at home, Donald Curran, Lawrence, John Curran, Lecompton, and Robert Curran, 736 Forest; five daughter, Mrs. Mary Kent, Sherman, Tex., Mrs. Rosemary Gosser, North Highland, Ca., Mrs. Elizabeth Beavers, 3205 Wisconsin, Mrs. Donna DeWitt, 1615 Clay, and Joyce Curran, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Phebe Burgett and Lucy Curran, both of Delia, and Mrs. Mary Stanfill, Seattle, Wa.; and 26 grandchildren. | 4907 |  | Obituary- Curran, John 1 JOHN C. CURRAN John Corneilous Curran, son of Robert Emmett and Martha Ann (Dike) Curran, died January 21, 1967 at the K.U. Medical Center. He was born November 26, 1893. He died at the age of 73 years, 1 month, 3 weeks and 4 days. He was born in Richardson County, Nebraska, and moved to Hope, Kansas at the age of 16, came to Jackson County at the age of 28. On June 14, 1922 he was united in marriage to Bettie Adams. They lived in the Delia, Hoyt, and Mayetta communities all of his life where he was engaged in farming. Survivors include his wife, Bettie, of the home. Two sons William and wife Maxine, Holton; John, of the home and one daughter, Betty Buehler and husband Eldon, Mayetta. There were ten grandchildren. Three sisters, Phebe Ellen Burgett, Delia; Mary Emily Stanfill, Seattle, Washington and Lucy Alice Curran of Delia. One brother Jennings Mark, Lecompton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joseph Edgar and William Halden and one sister Sarah (Sadie) Agatha Cannon. He was a loving father and grandfather and had enjoyed good health all his life Services held at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton, with Father Hayes officiating, at 1:30, Tuesday, January 24, 1967. Burial in the U.B. cemetery southwest of Delia. Pallbearers were Milton Daugherty, Myron Wells, Cecil Wells, Arthur Eby, Henry Bruckens, and Raymond Burns. He was born May 31, 1925 in Delia, KS the son of John C. and Bettie (Adams) Curran. John was a lifelong member of the Holton community. He graduated from Denison High School. John proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Forbes Supply Depot in shipping and receiving department, retiring in 1974. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Jane Buehler and a brother, William R. Curran. | 4912 |  | Obituary- Curran, William Curran William Robert Curran was born Dec. 23, 1923, near Delia, the son of John and Bettie Adams Curran and died Feb. 22 in a Topeka hospital at the age of 61 years two months. Bill, as he was known to family and friends, attended school at High Prairie north of Delia until the family moved near Denison, where he finished grade school at Point Pleasant. Bill went to stay with his grandmother to attend high school at Delia, returning home to finish his senior year at Denison, graduating in 1942. He served in the United States Army from Feb. 1943 to Feb. 1946. Bill did farming, construction work and electrical work, then in 1951 he went to work for Michigan-Wisconsin Pipeline Company until his retirement in 1983. Bill and Maxine June Huss were married April 27, 1946 and lived in Holton until 1959 when they moved to a farm southwest of Holton. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Maxine; six daughters, Connie Sue Renfro, and husband Dale, Martha Dreitzler and husband Don, Cynthia Degand and husband James, Tracy Bryant and husband Bruce, Karen Spiker and husband Mike and Teresa Criqui; one son, Michael and wife Geneva; one sister, Betty Buehler and husband Eldon; one brother John Curran; a brother-in-law, Merle Huss and wife Jerri; 13 grandchildren; two aunts; one uncle; niece, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25 from the Mercer Funeral Home with the Rev. Duane Kessler officiating. Burial was in the Holton Cemetery. Special organ music was furnished by Mrs. Carol Reed, who played “In The Garden” and “Beyond The Sunset.” Casketbearers were Roy Walrod, Tex Manuel, Ray Harshaw, “Mitch” Tuckwin, Paul Luscombe and Leon Daughtery. Memorials were made to the donors choice. William Robert Curran HOLTON - William Robert Curran, 61, Holton, died Friday, Feb. 22, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Curran worked for Michigan-Wisconsin Pipeline Co. 31 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was born Dec. 23, 1923, at Delia; the son of John C. and Bettie Adams Curran, and spent all his life in Jackson County. He was married April 27, 1946, to Maxine June Huss at Hiawatha. She survives. A daughter, Charlene Curran, died in 1946. Other survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Connie Sue Renfro, Onaga, Mrs. Martha E. Dreitzler, Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Cynthia Degand, Mayetta, and Mrs. Teresa Criqui, Mrs. Tracy Bryant and Mrs. Karen Spiker, all of Holton; a son, Michael Curran, Hoyt; a sister, Mrs. Betty Buehler, Mayetta; a brother, John Curran, Mayetta; and 13 grandchildren. Startup of Hammond, Indiana that her grandson had been struck and killed by a car shortly after noon Monday. He was seven year old Chuckie Curry, the son of Mrs. Charles Curry. His father was killed in a car-train collision three years ago. The child is survived by his mother and two sisters. They live in Crown Point, Indiana. | |
| 4914 |  | Obituary- Curwick, Clinton Clinton Curwick Clinton C. Curwick, 60, 117 E. Grant, died about an hour after arrival at a Topeka hospital Monday noon. He had a heart ailment and had been a patient in the same hospital in November, 1973, and again in August, 1974. He was a truck tire inspector at the Topeka Goodyear Plant from 1945 until May, 1974, when he retired. He was born Jan. 25, 1916, at Emmett and lived at Rossville before he moved to Topeka in 1945. He was a light tank crewman with the Ninth Armored Division in the Army and served overseas during World War II. He received the American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Europe-African-Middle Easter Ribbon with two bronze stars, and Good Conduct Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Award, World War Ii Victory Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and Local No. 307 of United Rubber Workers of America. He was married to Mrs. Helen Blum Aug. 17, 1946. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Ronald W. Blum, 6136 W. 27th Terrace, Larry L. Blum, 2325 E. 22nd Terrace, and Steven C. Curwick, 1228 College; a brother Gene Curwick, Forest Gove, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Mae Coke, Forest Grove, Ore.; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Davidson-Duff Funeral Home. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. Mr. Curwick will lie in state at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday. | |

She was born April 12, 1889, at Wamego where she spent her early life. She lived in the Rossville community about 25 years before she moved to Oregon about 30 years ago. She was married to Eugene Curwick in 1921 at Rossville. He survives. | 4916 |  | Obituary- Cushing, Wendi WENDI SUE CUSHING Wendi Sue Cushing, 26, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital. She was born March 17, 1982, in Topeka, the daughter of Scott D. and Denise M. Simecka Cushing. Wendi grew up in the St. Marys community where she attended school. She graduated with the class of 2001. She had been employed by T.A.R.C. in Topeka since the fall of 2001. Wendi enjoyed latch hooking, puzzles, going to the Casino and purchasing lottery tickets. She could recite every line in the movies, The Wizard of Oz and Titanic. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Florence Simecka on Sept. 20, 1998. Wendi is survived by her parents, Scott and Denise of the home, a brother Dylan and sister Deana both of the home; grandfather, John L. Simecka, St. Marys, grandmother, Beverly (John) Munoz, Topeka and grandfather Ivan L. Cushing, Greenleaf; aunts, Linda Tidier, Topeka, Shirley (Willie) Mergenmeier, St. Marys and Cyndi Cushing, Ft. Worth, Tex.; uncles, John R. (Paulette) Simecka, St. Marys, Gary (Pam) Simecka, Topeka and Clint Cushing, in Florida; 21 cousins. At the age of 1 year his parents moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he made his home until coming to Silver Lake. He joined the DeMolays at the age of 16 and was also a member of the M.W.A. He attended the Mark Twain ward school and also Westport high school in Kansas City. He married Beatrice Lawrence of Silver Lake February 13, 1928. Beside his wife he is survived by his mother and father, a brother and one sister. Funeral services were held at the home of E.H. Cutbirth Tuesday, October 9th, conducted by the Rev. Edwin N. Judd. Interment was in Memorial Park cemetery at Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Irene Cleveland was in Silver Lake Tuesday morning to attend the funeral of Ferris Cutbirth, the young man who lost his life Sunday night when his motorcycle collided with a lumber wagon driven by George Eiserman of Delia. The funeral was held at the home of his uncle, Everett (Ben) Cutbirth. The body was taken to Kansas City, Mo., for burial in Memorial Park cemetery. | |

She was born July 27, 1940, in Wheaton, Kansas the daughter of Freddie and Lorna (Teske) Figge. She graduated from Wheaton High School in 1958. Judy and family lived north of Rossville. Judy was employed by the USD 321 School District as a cook for many years. Their children attended Rossville High. Judy married Harold “Dean” Cutright on February 9, 1963. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2013. Survivors include her children, Vicki Bilderback (Randy) of Topeka and Troy Cutright (Lanette) of Topeka; grandchildren Dani Henderson (Bret), Hannah Bilderback (Ryan), Kelsey Cutright, Ethan Bilderback (Shannon), and Tanner Cutright; great-grandchildren Alexis, Harmony, Henley, Eli, Miles, and Raley; brother Dale (Susan) Figge; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband and great-granddaughter Hadley Jo Henderson, who passed away on November 30, 2016. Judy was very good at crochet and traveled full-time in retirement, and loved camping and playing games with family and friends. She and her husband Dean were always together. Judy was cremated. He was born Oct. 14, 1927, to Cecil Vincent Dain and Laura Francis Adams Dain in Osawatomie, where he lived and went to school. He served in the Army from January 1946 to April 1947. Don was a lifelong auctioneer and a partner in Dain/Kellner Auction Service. He retired after many years in the real estate, insurance and tax business. He owned and operated the Silver Lake H & R Block Office for many years until selling it to his sister, Ruth Ellen Hippensteel. Mr. Dain was a charter mem¬ber of the Silver Lake Lions Club, which organized on June 20, 1964, where he received several awards during his years of ser¬vice, including the Melvin Jones Fellow Humanitarian Award from the Lions Club Interna¬tional in 1997. In 1965, Don was one of the original firefighters when the Lion’s Club started the Volunteer Fire Department in Silver Lake. He was a member of the Silver Lake American Legion Post No. 160 since Aug. 8, 1952, and received his 50-year pin in 2003. He was a member of the Lake Lodge No. 50, A.F. & A.M., Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and the Arab Shrine Temple. He played on the Shriners golf team for many years. He also was a member of Silver Lake United Methodist Church. He was one of the original trustees of the Sil¬ver Lake Scholarship Founda¬tion, serving as secretary since its inception in 1996. In 2001, he made a large donation to the foundation at which time a Don Dain Scholarship was set up in his honor and also one in mem¬ory of his mother, Laura Dain. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Emery Albertus Dain; an 8-year-old brother, Cecil Theodore "Teddy” Dain, Osawatomie; a brother, Willis "Bill" Dain, Topeka; and a sister, Ruth Ellen Hippensteel, Silver Lake. Immediate survivors are a brother and two sisters, Wesley Dain and Virginia Jackson, both of Silver Lake, and Nellie Spetter, Delia. Several nieces and neph¬ews also survive. Rosemary Dancer was born November 25, 1931 in Junction City, Kansas to Ed and Katherine Lambert, who were later divorced. She spent her early childhood years with her Mother but lost her at the age of eight. Rosemary then returned to live with her Father. She graduated from Rossville High School in Rossville, Kansas, and then attended Business College in Topeka, Kansas where she started her career with a local bank. She moved to Coffeyville, Kansas during the mid-fifties, working for Parkersburg Rig and Reel. While in Coffeyville she met and later married Jack Dancer, a marriage lasting for 53 years. She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughters, Dana Dancer, Boise, Julie Walker, Meridian (husband Duane and sons Ethan and Eric Walker), and son Rick Dancer, Gilbert, Arizona (son Brian Aragon, daughters Dasia Dancer and Jacque McMurry and her husband Shawn McMurry). Rosemary returned to the banking world in Winfield, Kansas aiding her husband to finish college. They returned to Coffeyville where she became, as she most wanted to be, a full time mother and housewife. However, in 1984 she became Jack's business partner in a financial services agency. She said she would give him ten years but stayed for twelve. During this time she enjoyed traveling to many parts of the United States and the world. Rosemary gained a great reputation for her integrity and correctness in the money affairs of their agency. A major dispute was settled with an influential company by a third party stating "just pay what Rosemary says you owe". After her retirement she returned to her first love as mother, grandmother and wife, working in her yard and caring for her home. She continued to enjoy travel with the El Korah Nomads, visiting friends and relatives, and other special trips in their travel trailer. A beautiful lady both inside and out, she will be sorely missed. Memorial services are planned for Saturday, April 23 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 704 S. Following her retirement she and Glen traveled extensively. Virginia Virginia was married to W. Glen Daniels on May 16, 1948 at Rossville. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2003. On September 24, 1940, she was united in marriage to Frank "Junior" Dannefer at Harrisonville, MO. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2008. Her twin brother, Edmund, died in infancy. He was born February 11, 1917 at Rossville, the son of Frank R. and Nellie Shidler Dannefer. "Junior" graduated from Rossville High School in 1934 and attended Kansas State College in Manhattan. Mr. Dannefer was a farmer and stockman. He had lived in the Rossville community all of his life. He was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Michael Dannefer on April 11, 2008. On September 24, 1940 he was united in marriage to Eunice L. McMahan at Harrisville, MO. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Dale (Elaine) Dannefer, Cleveland Heights, OH. & Daryl (Jan) Dannefer, Rossville; three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. | 4939 |  | Obituary- Dannefer, Jan Jan Marie "Jamboree" Dannefer Jan Marie “Jamboree” Dannefer, 67, passed away, Monday, January 27, 2020, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. She was born on August 30, 1952, at Topeka, the daughter of Orville and Jacqueline Lloyd Strimple. Jan grew up in the Rossville community and graduated from Rossville High School in 1970. She attended Kaw Valley Technical School in Topeka, where she studied Medical Transcription. Jan worked in the medical transcription pool at Stormont Vail Hospital. After the birth of her children, she became a stay at home mom and was a daycare provider. She was a member of the Rossville Christian Church and the Rossville Community Library Book Club. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Jackie, three nephews, Baby Boy Nadeau, Jordan Nadeau, and Michael Dannefer. Daryl Dannefer and Jan Strimple were united in marriage on a cold and windy morning on November 17, 1973, at the Dannefer Farm. He survives of the home. Other family members that are left to cherish her memory are her son, Eric (Mel) Dannefer, Abilene; her daughter, Amanda (Krishna) Khemraj, Olathe; sister, Gay (David) Nadeau, Rossville; grandchildren, Maezee and Grandin Khemraj, Naomi, Claira, and Hope Dannefer. | 4940 |  | Obituary- Dannefer, Nelle Mrs. Nelle Dannefer Mrs. Nelle Dannefer, 56 passed away April 28th, at her home north of Rossville. She was born near Cuba, Kan., June 14, 1891. She had lived in Rossville since 1915. She taught school at Mission Center from 1911 to 1915. She was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian church. She is survived by her husband, Frank R. Dannefer, of the home; one son, Frank Dannefer Jr., Rossville; two daughters, Mrs. Lulu D. Hill, Rossville, and Doris G. Dannefer, Topeka; two brothers, Ray Shideler and Jay Shideler, both of Topeka; one sister, Mrs. Ray White, Topeka; and two grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and wife and a patient sufferer, always thinking of her family, rather than her own illness, and up to the last was planning for their future. She was always thoughtful of other sick friends and was ready to write cheery letters to those ill and shut in. To spread sunshine was her hearts desire. A beautiful tribute to her was given by the Ren. Schwartz. Everything that medical science could do was given to restore health and her devoted family was at her bedside continually all during her illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rossville Presbyterian church, with the Ren. Schwartz, pastor of the Westminister Presbyterian church of Topeka, officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Lorene Harth and Mrs. O. S. Boyd accompanied by Edith Higginbotham. Pall bearers were, Marvin Davis, Norman White, Ky Prater, Marion Davis, Jimmie Rezac, I.O. McMahan. | 4941 |  | Obituary- Dannefer, Rachel Mrs. Rachel Dannefer Mrs. Rachel Dannefer, 91, of Rossville, and a resident of Kansas 72 years, died Sunday in a Topeka hospital. She was born February 5, 1852, in Norway and came to the United State with her parents when she was three years old, settling in Westby, Wis. They came to Kansas in 1872 and settled on a homestead in Republic County. At the time of her death, she was believed to have been the last Republic County homesteader. She was married to Nelson Dannefer in 1872 in Belleville. They operated a store at Cuba, Kansas, for forty years. After her husband’s death in 1915, she moved to Rossville to make her home with her son, Frank Dannefer. She was a member of the Lutheran Church at Westby, Wis. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Hattie Kennedy, Sabetha; three sons, Edwin E. Dannefer, Eskridge; William E. Dannefer, Omaha, and Frank E. Dannefer, Rossville; a brother, Robert Jacobson, Westby, Wyo.; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Rossville Presbyterian Church, Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. N. P. Olney officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Loma Jamieson, Mrs. Arline Reid and Miss Edith Higginbotham. Pall bearers were Marvin Davis, Frank Zook, Ky Prater, Allyn Hartzell, Norman White and I. O. McMahan. Before he retired Pete was a mail carrier in rural Pottawatomie County and a referee for various high school sporting events for many years. He sold insurance for Western Southern Life for 20 years. The son of John Cleafes and Ella Nora Boyles Darting, Alex was born May 25, 1920, in Jackson County. He graduated from Holton High School in 1938 and enlisted in the Army. He served in the 2nd Infantry during World War II and spent part of the war as a member of one of General Eisenhower’s personal guard units. After the war he owned and operated a filling station and restaurant in Rossville before moving to Cleburne, where he drove a school bus and was the school custodian. He married Maude Lenora Andrick on June 4, 1943, in Topeka. She died in 2000. Their daughter, Donna Jean, died in 1957. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bert and Cleafes, two half- brothers, John and Lawrence, and five half-sisters, Nancy, Rose, Viva, Goldie and Cornelia. He is survived by his three sons, Kenneth, Silver Lake. Dennis, Baldwin City, and Steven, Topeka; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, March 3, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Saturday, and later lapsed into unconsciousness. The cause of death was a diabetic coma. She was born in Rossville June 26, 1947. The family moved to St. George about three years ago. She was born July 24, 1946, the daughter of Reece and Virgie Hoffman Cowan at Ft. Lewis, Washington, Judy was the daughter of a career Army man and had lived in many cities across the US and overseas. In the early '60s, her father retired, and they moved to Topeka. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1964. Judy attended Washburn University. Judy worked as an administrative assistant for the State of Kansas for many years. She lived in the Silver Lake and Rossville communities. Judy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Silver Lake. She enjoyed reading and was a member of the Rossville Library Book Club. She loved her family and her dogs. Judith Cowan and Gerry Darting were united in marriage in Topeka. They were married 23 years and divorced, but remained friends and neighbors, he survives in Rossville. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jack Cowan, and her son, Jeffrey Darnell Darting. Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Lee Darting and Sarah Anne (Bryant) Presley, all of Rossville; six grandchildren. Memorial services were Monday, July 6, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Silver Lake. She made the Rossville United Methodist Church quilt for nearly 15 years. On June3, 1943, she married Alex Darting in Topeka. He survives. Mrs. Darting retired from the McCall Pattern Co. in Manhattan in 1984. She was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Soldier, the daughter of Raymond and Griffie “Adams” Andrick. She was raised in Emmett and graduated from Soldier High School. Mrs. Darting was an avid quilter and made the annual guilt for Rossville Methodist Church for nearly 15 years. She married Alex Darting on June 3, 1943, in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include three sons, Ken Darting, Silver Lake, Den Darting, Baldwin City, and Steve Darting, Topeka; three sisters, Wuaneta [sic Wauneta] Darting, Emmett, Dorothy Redmon, Topeka, and Genevieve Jacobson, Rossville; a brother, John Andrick, Maple Hill; and seven grandchildren. He was born June 9, 1946 at Holton the son of Cleafes A. and Z. Wauneta Andrick Darting. Roy grew up in the Emmett community and graduated from Emmett High School in 1964. He served in the Army National Guard and was called to active duty during the Vietnam War. He had lived in the Emmett community before moving to rural Rossville in December 2007. Roy was a truck driver for Frito Lay and had driven for them the past 25 years before he took a medical leave in 2008. He had earned an award for driving Two Million Miles. He had worked for Hunt Transportation as an owner operator and had driven for Rezac Live¬stock Company. Roy was a cattleman and rancher. He was a member of the Emmett United Methodist Church and also was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his father, Cleafes. On June 11, 1971 Roy was united in marriage to Nancy K. Perry at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Emmett. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his mother, Z. Wauneta Darting, Emmett; three daughters, Kelli (J.D.) Kenney, Rossville, Beth (Chris) Reiners, Maple Hill and Megan (Jeff) Richardson, Wichita; two sisters, Betty Darting, Lawrence and Wilma Rojas, Rossville; a brother Gerry Darting, Rossville; six grandchildren, Jimmy, Parker, Madelyn, Cassie, Alexis and Mason.
