Leroy Parr, Rossville, and Wanda Keller, Delia, were married December 28,1946, in Topeka. Mr. Parr fanned in the Rossville and Delia communities until he retired in 1986. He operates a small cattle herd. Mrs. Pan worked for Petro Surgical Supply of Topeka and, after retiring, worked part time as a receptionist for Carriger & Carriger Optical, Rossville.

A surprise reception is planned to honor Leroy and Wanda Parr of Delia in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The reception will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Governor's Row House, 811 S.W. Buchanan, Topeka.

It will be hosted by their children, Jane Parr, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; Janice and Louie Nash, Arlington, Texas; and Kellee Parr, Topeka. The couple have two grandchildren.

Leroy C. Parr and Wanda J. Keller were married Dec. 28, 1946, in Topeka. They have lived in the Rossville-Delia area throughout their lives.

Mr. Parr is a retired farmer. Mrs. Parr worked for many years for Petro Surgical Supply in Topeka and retired as a receptionist for Carriger optical in Rossville.

Mr. and Mrs. Jess Pauley will observe their 60th wedding anniversary today. No celebration is planned as Mr. Pauley is a patient in the Veterans Administration Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Pauley were married Feb. 16, 1915 and lived or farm west of Westmoreland for 19 years. They have been residents of Shawnee County since 1938 and moved to Topeka in September, 1973.

They have one daughter, Mrs. Gordon Ensley, four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

FIFTY YEARS ON SAME FARM
Fifty years of married life, all spent on the same farm, were celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. James H. Pearl, who live five miles southwest of Rossville, with a family dinner at noon and a reception from 2 to 5 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Jan. 26.

The Pearls were married and moved to their present home Jan. 26 1886. Mr. Pearl has been a Kansan for sixty-four years. Mrs. Pearl for fifty-four years. He was born in Columbus, Warren county, Pa., December 4, 1858, and came to Kansas in February of the year of 1872 Mrs. Pearl was born in Sterling. Whiteside county, Ill., January 2 1861, and came to Kansas in February, 1882. The relatives present for the occasion, were five of their six children and their families Mr. and Mrs. John Pearl and family; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pearl and family; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Pearl and Family; Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas, of Kansas City, Miss Rose Pearl, Miss Katherine Halloran, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ronsse, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Ronsse, Mr. James Doyle, Mr. Leo Doyle.

Hildegard Taphom and Jerry Pearl were married April 12,1958, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. They are the parents of Colleen Monhollon, Rossville; Cathy Pearl, Christy Ronsse, and Gerry Lou Marstall, St. Marys; Mary Wurtz and Ginger Flach, Paxico; and Angie Leuthold and Michelle Pearl, Manhattan. They have 11 grandchildren.

Gerald “Jerry” and Hildegard Taphom Pearl, St. Marys, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of their vows at 11 a.m., Sunday, April 13, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys.

A reception will be held for family and friends from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Center, 806 Nishnabe Trail, Rossville.

Jerry and Hildegard met through the Catholic Youth Organization at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Topeka, in 1956. They were married on April 12, 1958, at St.Gregory’s Catholic Church, Marysville.

Their children and spouses are Johnny Pearl, deceased, Colleen Monhollon and Jim Meyer, Rossville, Cathy Pearl, Manhattan, Christy and Dave Ronsse, St. Marys, Gerry Lou and Dan Marstall, St. Marys, Mary and James Wurtz, Paxico, Gin¬ger and Jerry Flach, Paxico, Angie and Mark Leuthold, Manhattan, and Michelle and Ryan Martin, St. Marys.

They are the proud grandparents to 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. John L. Pearl of St. Marys will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with an open house on Sunday, March 6, at the Centennial Building in St. Marys.

Hosts will be their children, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Pearl and family of Bartlesville, Okla., and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde and family of Rossville.

Friends and relatives are invited to call between 2 and 4 p.m. No invitations have been issued and the couple requests no gifts.

Mr. and Mrs. Pearl were both born in Rossville Township and lived since their marriage on the same farm for 48 years, moving to St. Marys October 1, 1964.

They were married in Kansas City, Kansas, March 7, 1916. There are six grandchildren.

Mr. Pearl served on the Rossville Township board for 22 years. Mrs. Pearl was a member of Rossville HDU for 25 years and she was also a member of the Literary and Music Circle for a number of years.

Mr. and Mrs. Penaz were married November 18, 1909, in Topeka and have lived in the Delia community nearly all their lives. They have one daughter, Mrs. Lydia Scott of Manhattan.

Mr. and Mrs. Reed Perry of Holton celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary February 21. They came to Rossville township as bride and groom in the spring of '69 and located north of Rossville. Mr. Perry and his brother Joe built and operated the flour mill, the Perry brothers hauling most of the material for the building from a lumber yard on Soldier Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Perry lived at the mill about two years, selling out their interest to Joe and moved back to Jackson county.

Roger Perry and Mary Beth Muckenthaler were married March 5, 1952, in St. Marys.

They are the parents of six children — Nancy Darting, Emmett; Janet Sumner, Rossville; Tricia Garver, St. George, Keith Perry and Andy Perry, St. Marys, and the late Jeff Perry, Wamego. They have 17 grandchildren.

Roger retired from the U.S. Postal Service, serving as Postmaster at St. Marys, with 35 years of service. Mary Beth is a homemaker.

Mr. and Mrs. Peters were married June 19, 1930, in Topeka. Before moving to Silver Lake three and one-half years ago, they had lived in Topeka for 32 years and in the Delia community for 14 years. Mr. Peters retired in 1973, alter 47 years as a barber.

Porters cebebrate 50th wedding anniversary
Marion Porter and Lucille Reser were united in marriage on Aug. 16,1957, at the Rossville Methodist Church at an evening ceremony.

Marion and Lucille celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner, reception and singing at the Topeka Steakhouse on Aug. 4, 2007, which was hosted by their children, Darlene McGranahan, St. Marys, Tammy and Kevin Kerwin, Delia, Mike and Linda Porter, Emmett. Charlene Porter, sister, and their eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also attended to round out the celebration. Stories were shared by the couple with their family for all to enjoy.

Doug and Denise Lober Queen were married Nov. 12, 1983, in Rossville, at the United Methodist Church.

The couple has lived on the family farm north of Rossville for the past 25 vears where they have enjoyed farming, raising their children and their passion for 4-H.

Their children are Jessica and Daniel Aubert and Megan Queen.

A party is being hosted by their children at the Rossville American Legion
on Nov. 8, from 6:30 to 8p.m., with a reception, and dance from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Francis Raab and Juanita Keller were married April 30, 1946, at Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka. They have lived in Topeka throughout their marriage.

Mr. Raab served with the U.S. Army in combat in Normandy during World War II. He is retired from Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center. Mrs. Raab worked at Topeka Medical Center.

They are both employed at Manhattan Commission Company.

Linda has been in real estate sales for 34 years and is in Avon sales.

have three granddaughters and one grandson. They also have two great- grandsons; one deceased.

Gerald Harrison Reser and Donis Lee Stephan were married Aug. 11, 1941, in Raton. N.M. Mr. Reser is a retired farmer in the Rossville area. Mrs. Reser is a retired bank employee from People's State Bank and a childcare provider.

Gerald and Donis Reser of Rossville celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a week’s vacation with their family in June on the Outer Banks at Corolla, N.C.

Donis Stephan and Gerald Reser were married Aug. 11,1941, at Raton, N.M.

Their children and their spouses are Gerald Jr. and Irene Reser, Niceville, Fla.; Donna and James Pauly, Overland Park; and Cheryl and Bill Hatfield, Arlington, Texas. The couple have 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Betty Meats and William Reser were married Sept. 26,1958, at the United Methodist Church in LeRoy.

Their two daughters are Dee Reser and Donna Larson, both of Topeka. The couple have three grandchildren.

Mr. Reser retired from DuPont in 1985.

Mrs. Reser retired in 2001 from the Shawnee Heights School District.

Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Reser celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Saturday, December 31st at their home northwest of Rossville.

route 1 celebrated their golden wed ding anniversary recently with their two daughters and their families and other friends present. Mrs. G. W. Walker was the only guest present, who was at the wedding 50 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Reser were married at Rossville and have resided at their present home six miles northwest of here for the last 42 years. Mrs. Reser was born at Soldier, Kan., and Mr. Reser in Repley county, Indiana, coming to Shawnee county with his parents when six years old. The two daughters, Mrs. William Leitzow and Mrs. Rosa Newman of Topeka six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren were present at the golden wedding dinner.

Ernest and Martha Rezac of Silver Lake will observe their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner today.

Ernest Rezac and Martha Wood were married Dec. 13,1952, in Rossville.

Their children are David and Vicki Rezac, Delia; Janice and Dennis Prior, Rossville; and the late Nancy Dickerson.

They have six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

The couple are semi-retired from farming.


Ernest and Martha Rezac, married 50 years, met when Martha was in first grade and Ernest was in third grade in the one-room Twin Rose School north of Rossville.

They dated during Martha’s junior and senior years in high school. Martha graduated in 1952, and they married on Dec. 13,1952. One month later, Ernest left to serve in Korea for two years. Since then, “not many nights did we ever spend apart,’’ Ernest said.

“We’ve had a really good marriage,” he said. “Except for the loss of our daughter, everything has gone pretty smoothly.”

Ernest attributes their happy marriage to hard work. “We’ve both farmed our whole lives, and she’s helped me a lot,” he said. “I think that’s probably it. Maybe that’s why we never fought — we were too tired to fight," he added with laughter.

Mr. Rogers worked for Douglas and M.W. Watson Construction Cos. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers owned and operated the BandB Cafe in St. Marys for 23 years, retiring in 1989.
