    Brees-Paine Couple Married June 6

Karen D. Brees and Mark L. Paine were united in marriage on Saturday, June 6, 1987, at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in St. Marys. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Roger Noah.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. William L. Brees, Emmett, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Paine, Topeka.

The bride’s gown had a Queen Anne neckline which topped a bodice of chantilly and Schiffli lace with a basque waistline. The Elizabethan sleeves of lace and organza came to a bridal point at the wrists. The full organza skirt was hemmed with lace flounces. Lace flounces also edged the scalloped cathedral train. The bride wore a hat made of matching chantilly and Schiffli lace with a veil down the back. She carried a colonial bouquet of Kario peach roses, peach carnations and white pixie carnations laced with baby’s breath and peach bridal satin ribbon.

Bridal attendants wore matching peach floor-length bustleback gowns and carried clusters of single stemmed peach roses. Michelle Brees, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Rhonda Engman, cousin of the bride, and Angie Pettay, friend of the bride.

The groom wore a silver colored tuxedo with tails; his attendants wore silver colored tuxedos and peach rose boutonnieres. Jon Paine, brother of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Edward P. Paine, brother of the groom, and Steven Brees, brother of the bride.

The ring bearer was David Persons, cousin of the bride. He wore a silver colored tuxedo with tails and a peach rose boutonniere. Flower girl was Kristy Paine, niece of the groom. She wore a peach floor-length bustleback gown and carried a basket with peach silk rose petals.

Ushers were Larry D. Marshall and Donnie Brees, cousins of the bride. They wore silver colored tuxedos.

Music for the wedding was provided by organist Marilyn Noah, and soloist Bryan Reiners.

Tracy Paine, sister of the groom, was at the guest book.

Cake and punch were served by Pam Persons and Dana Brees, cousins of the bride, and Beth Tarbutton, friend of the bride.

Susan Peck, cousin of the bride, assisted with the gifts.

Mr. and Mrs. Paine are at home in Topeka, where the groom is employed by Brookwood Terrace Apartments.
