    Vows Exchanged in Afternoon Wedding

    Catherine Marie Bertels and Michael Wayne Rafferty exchanged marriage vows April 20, 1974 at 2:00 in the afternoon. Rev. A1 Rockers officiated at the ceremony in the Immaculate Conception Church.

    Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bertels, St. Marys, are the parents of the bride. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rafferty of Rossville.

    The bride’s floor-length dress was of embroidered organza with long sheer sleeves. Her fingertip tulle veil was framed in lace.

    Miss Kathy Mergenmeier was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Debbie Bertels and Martha Bertels, sisters of the bride.

    Lee McQueen was best man. Groomsmen were Tony Eakin and Bruce Teeter.

    Mike Bertels and Bill Rafferty were ushers. The Mass was served by Phil Bertels and Alan Bertels, brothers of the bride. Dennis Prior was lector. Offertory gifts were brought by Kayleen Rafferty. Vocal music was provided by Cia Verschelden and Dana Rodenbaugh.

    Assisting at the reception were Mrs. Floyd Wilcox. Mrs. Melvin Mergenmeier. Susan Houck, Maggie Rousse Betty Rein, Karen Aubert. Liz Weishaar and Darlene Bertels.

    Mrs. Rafferty is a graduate of St. Marys High School and Brown-Mackie School in Salina. She is employed in the offices of K-Mart in Hutchinson. Mr. Rafferty was graduated from Rossville High School and is employed by Cessna in Hutchinson.

    The couple is at home in Hutchinson.
