| Anniversary- Fairbanks, Hugh and Geneva 1 Fairbanks to Celebrate Golden Anniversary
Hugh and Geneva Keller Fairbanks, Rossville, were married June 18, 1948, in the chapel at the Methodist Church in Topeka.
Before their marriage, Hugh served in the U.S. Navy and worked in various occupations, retiring as a Federal Livestock Inspector.
Geneva was teaching when they met and later operated Geneva’s Town and Country Beauty Salon in Delia. She took an early retirement.
They will celebrate Sunday, June 28. Their children Cherrie and Norman Argabright, Ida Grove, IA, and Douglas and Donola Fairbanks, Delia, will host a luncheon for their immediate family (21 in all) at the couple’s home in Rossville.
The couple requests no gifts, but extends an invitation to you to join the family at the 11:00 a.m. service at the Rossville Christian Church, Rossville. You are also invited to “put on your old grey bonnet with the blue ribbons on it” and your dancing shoes and join them at the Kaw Valley Chapter of the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers at the Rossville High School at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5.

| Anniversary- Fairbanks, Hugh and Geneva 3 THE MONTH OF JUNE, 1998, is one that Hugh and Geneva Fairbanks will treasure. It began on their 50th wedding anniversary June 18, when they had dinner out with friends. On Sunday, June 28, their immediate family and special guest, Sharon Salyer Meissner, Topeka, attended the 11 a.m. worship. Following worship, Pauline and Joe Conley and Barbara and Joe Driver emceed a short program with special songs and the presentation of the first copy of Hugh’s biography to him and each member of the family. Geneva spent three years writing it, with the assistance of the Drivers and Conleys.
After family pictures were taken, the family had dinner waiting at home, catered by Puffy’s in Maple Hill. Later that afternoon, Geneva’s sister, Naomi Sumner, assisted her in buttoning the 30 buttons up the back of her wedding dress, which she wore.
