| Marriage- Perry, Janet-Sumner, Vernon The Immaculate Conception Church in St. Marys was the setting for the marriage of Janet Irene Perry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Perry, of St. Marys, to Mr. Vernon L. Sumner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sumner, Delia.
The couple was married at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, during a ceremony performed by Fr. Al Rockers.
The bride wore an A-line floor length gown of bridal satin and venise lace. The empire bodice was fashioned with a scoop neckline and full sleeves with wide lace trimmed cuffs. Venise lace streamers extended down the skirt front and circled the waistline. The attached train was caught at the waistline and extended to full chapel length. She wore a Juliet veil and carried a bouquet of red roses and baby breath.
Mrs. Nancy Darting, Emmett, was her sister’s matron of honor, and bridesmaids were Tippi Fox, Pat Carlin, and Patricia Perry, sister of the bride, all of St. Marys. Flower girl was Nancy Sumner, Delia, sister of the bridegroom. Ring bearers were Keith and Andy Perry, brothers of the bride.
Dennis Sumner of Delia, was his brother’s best man, and groomsmen were Jerry Lutz, Holton, and Joe Simecka, Delia. Ushers were Jeff Perry, brother of the bride, and Mick Keller, Rossville. Commentator was Dwight Martinek of Rossville.
A reception and dance at the Centennial Building followed the ceremony.
Mrs. Sumner is a graduate of St. Marys High School.
Mr. Sumner is a graduate of Rossville High School, and is employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Topeka.
