  Anniversary- Hoobler, Lloyd and Dorothy Hooblers will celebrate golden anniversary Lloyd and Dorothy Hoobler, St Marys, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, November 12, at Hammond Hall, the United Methodist Church, St. Marys. Hosting the reception will be the couple’s children — Dr. Raymond and Debra Hoobler, Atlanta, Ga., and Susan and Bruce Ottmann, and grandsons Matthew, Mark, and Michael Ottman, Topeka. Lloyd Hoobler and Dorothy Newcomer were married November 13, 1945, at her home near Uniontown, Pa. Mr. Hoobler served almost four years with the U.S. Army during World War 2, then worked for the Jones Alfalfa Milling Company, St. Marys, and the C.G.F. Grain Company, Topeka. He retired in 1982 from the Irrigation Department of the Farmers Union Cooperative Association, St. Marys. Mrs. Hoobler is a free-lance journalist who writes a historical column and feature articles for the “St Marys Star.” She has published two books about the history of St Marys.
