Before an altar decorated with peach carnations, ivory roses and baby’s breath, Joyce Meyer and Daryl Buchholz exchanged wedding vows Sunday, August 3, 1980, at 7 p.m. The Reverend Larry Buss performed the double ring ceremony at the United Methodist Church in Rossville, Ks.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Meyer, Rossville, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Buchholz.

Escorted by her father, the bride appeared in an ivory Qiana gown fashioned with stand-up collar, fitted bodice, and long straight sleeves enhanced with insets of silk Venice lace adorned with seed pearls, and an A-line skirt which flowed into a chapel-length train. Her four-tiered fintertip veil of silk illusion fell from an ivory lace headpiece.

The bride’s attendant was her sister, Faye Miller, Rossville. The flower girl was Shari Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Meyer, Rossville.

The groom was attended by James Olsen, Hitchcock, his brother-in-law. The ring bearer was Collin Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Olsen. The men in the bridal party were attired in dark brown tuxedos. The ushers were Terry Pentecost, Lawrence, Dave Sharp and Brad Miller, Rossville, brothers-in-law of the bride.

Nuptial music was played by Debora
Pentecost, Lawrence, pianist; and Janice Sharp, Rossville, organist, sisters of the bride. Paula Atkinson, Hays, sang, “And I Love You So” and “The Wedding Prayer.” Ann Koester, Redfield, So. Dak., registered the guests.

The reception followed at the church with the Methodist women serving. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Meyer, Rossville, and Dr. and Mrs. Vaughn Meyer, Columbia, Mo., brothers of the bride. Serving the cake were Kathy Olsen, Hitchcock, So. Dak., sister of the groom, and Pat Leikam, Florence, Ala. At the coffee service were Mrs. Bill Koester, Redfield, So. Dak. and Mrs. Hollis Dumke, Sioux Falls, So. Dak.

Shelley McKenna, Jennings, and Janet Payne, Manhattan, poured the punch. The gift attendants were Gay Crawford, Rossville, and Kathy Miller, Kansas City, Ks.

A celebration was held at the Mainstreeter Restaurant and Club following the reception.
