    Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Topeka was the setting for the Saturday, June 13,1998 afternoon wedding of Cristy VanVleck and Jon Balch, Pastor Arno Meyer officiated.

    Parents of the couple are Omer and Judy VanVleck, Rossville, and Phil and Jolene Balch, Topeka. Grandparents of the bride are Omer and Ann VanVleck, Rossville. The groom’s grandmother is Mildred Balch, Barnes.

    Lynette Renfro, Silver Lake, served as matron of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Misty VanVleck, sister of the bride, Tara Runge, sister of the groom, Melissa Zlatnik, friend of the bride, and Heather Wheeler, cousin of the bride.

    Bryan Balch, brother of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Jason Uffman, Todd Ohlde and Danny Monhollon, friends of the groom, and Erik Zabokrtsky, cousin of the groom. Michael VanVleck, Larry VanVleck and Travis VanVleck, bothers of the bride, and Alan Runge, brother-in-law of the groom, were ushers.

    Beverly Baker, friend of the bride, was the vocalist. Janice Sharp was the organist. Melissa VanVleck, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. Grant Meyerhoff, cousin of the groom, was the ring bearer. Wendy Peterson, cousin of the bride, and Tandi Zaboktrsky, cousin of the groom, were candle lighters. Chuck Peterson, cousin of the bride, read the scriptures. Attending the guest book was Melissa Meyerhoff. Anna Meyerhoff and Tiffany Zabokrtsky handed out programs. Johnathan Roberts and Cameron Renfro distributed the bird seed.

    A reception, dinner, and dance at the IBEW Union Hall followed the ceremony.

    The bride is a student at Cloud County Community College, majoring in Early Childhood Development The groom is a graduate of Salina Area Vo-Tech and is employed at Martin Tractor Company in Concordia.
