    Cummings- Franklin Vows Exchanged
The marriage of Miss Virginia Sue Cummings to John Paul Franklin, was solemnized by candlelight at the Rossville Christian Church, the evening of September 21, 1974, with the Rev. Bob Sieh officiating at the double ring ceremony.

The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Cummings, was given in marriage by her father. She wore a lace delusterized satin gown, an original created by Alice Baird, styled with an empire waistline and hemline ruffle. The empire lines were emphasized with embroidery of seed pearls and lace. The pleated aisle length train was fastened at the high waistline with a lace and satin bow. Her full-length veil of illusion was held by a tiara of pearls. Her jewelry, a gift from the groom, was a white gold cross which will have a diamond added to it on each anniversary.

The bride’s bouquet was of white roses, white daisies, apricot carnations and baby’s breath streamers.

Identical gowns of apricot double knit were worn by the attendants who carried bouquets of white carnations. Mrs. Ellen McFarland, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and Miss Pam Mayo, was maid of honor. Flower girls were her sister. Amy Cummings, and her niece, Nita Jean Kelley.

Candlelighters were her sisters, Alice Marie Cummings and Sallie Ann Kelley.

Mr. Franklin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lee Franklin of Topeka, was attended by Jerry Shepherd of Topeka. Wayne Cummings, brother of the bride, was the groomsman.

Mrs. Olga Hartman played nuptial selections before and during the ceremony and accompanied Wayne Cummings’ vocal solos, "Wedding Song,” and "The Lord’s Prayer.”

A reception was held in the church social hall immediately following the wedding. The reception table, centered with a tiered wedding cake baked by the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Alice Baird, was served by friends of the bride, Misses Janet and Lois Hartman. Janice Long and Robin Thatcher, also friends of the bride, assisted at the gift table, and Mrs. Judy Marsh, Wichita, was at the guest book.

Mr. Franklin is employed at Memorial Hospital and Mrs. Franklin is employed at Hill Haven Convalescent Center in Topeka.
