Mrs. Lola G. Crow
OSAGE CITY – Mrs. Lola G. Crow, 86, formerly of 5000 Huntoon, Topeka, died late Friday, Feb. 17, at an Osage City nursing home.
Mrs. Crow worked at the Kansas Motor Vehicle Department in Topeka for several years after her husband died. She also had taught school for several years.
She was born Nov. 3, 1897, in a sod house near Agra in Phillips County, the daughter of Samuel L. and Mary Mae Blankenship Schiesser. She moved to Keene at an early age and was graduated from Maple Hill High School, then attended Emporia State Teachers College. She spent most of her life in the Willard community.
Mrs. Crow was a member of First Christian Church in Topeka and a former member of West Union Ladies Aid at Willard.
She was married to Marion Lawrence Crow March 16, 1922, at Topeka. He died Aug 14, 1953. An infant son, Marvin Eugene Crow, died Aug. 16, 1924.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Norma Hobson, Atlantic, Iowa; a son, Calvin Crow, Osage City; a sister, Mrs. Frances McKown, Topeka; five brothers, Glenn Schiesser and Dean Schiesser, both of Topeka, Ray Schiesser, Eskridge, Ike Schiesser, Keene, and Marvin Schiesser, Visalia, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rossville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Keene Cemetery west of Dover on K-4. Mrs. Crow will lie in state after 1 p.m. Monday at Crable Funeral Chapel in Osage City and an hour before service time at the church.
