    Larry Freel
    Larry Neil Freel, 80, Topeka, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25,2017, at his home.

    Larry was born June 28,1937, in Topeka, the son of James and Ruby Bixby Freel. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1955 and attended Washburn University. On December 6,1959, Larry and Donna Barr were united in marriage. They enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. He proudly served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1960 until 1966. Larry worked for the Rock Island Railroad and retired from Auburn/Washburn USD 437. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the United Methodist Men’s Group. Larry was an avid outdoors-man. Fishing and hunting were a big part of his life and he enjoyed many trips to Colorado to hunt deer. Larry also enjoyed bowling, but most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

    Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Donna Freel, of the home; son, Gary Freel (Jeanette), Clovis CA; daughter, Sharon Huesers, Overland Park; grandchildren, Joshua Freel (Tiffany), Caleb Freel, Christian Huesers (Ashley) and Jordan Huesers; brother, Jim Freel, Topeka; sister, Janice Lundy (Bruce), Yadkinville NC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

    Larry was preceded in death by his parents, baby sister, Rama Freel and brothers, Billy and Glen Freel.

    A Celebration of Larry’s life will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, 2627 SW Western Avenue, Topeka KS 66611, where family will greet friends one hour prior to service.
    Inurnment will be at a later date.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice, sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.

    Larry’s family thanks the staff of Heartland Hospice for the loving care they provided over the last year.
