| Obituary- Constant, Josephine Josephine C. (Simecka) Constant, 100, of Topeka passed away on December 16, 2017. Born September 5, 1917, in Delia, KS, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Simecka.
She attended Stach grade school and graduated from Delia High School.
Josephine married Dueward Constant on July 8, 1937, in Delia. They lived in the farm community north of Topeka for 75 years. He preceded her in death.
Josephine worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Francis Hospital. She then went to work at Ohse Meat as a packager, where she later retired. She never really retired though, even at Lexington Park, she often wished that she could find some work to do.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting, always making personalized gifts for her family. Josephine loved word find puzzle books. She made sure all the harvesters for the farm were well fed.
Josephine was preceded in death by an infant son, Frankie Ray Constant, a son, Joseph “Jody” Constant and a son-in-law, Harris Rakestraw Jr.
She is survived by a son, Marlin (Ginny) Constant of Topeka, three daughters; Madalene (James) Golden and Ethelene "Rusty" Rakestraw, and Kathy (Don Mize) Constant, a daughter-in-law, Shirley Constant all of Topeka, 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and even more great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 with visitation following until 1:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. A graveside funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Prairie Home Cemetery.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to the employees of the Assisted Living at Lexington Park for the great care and love they gave mom.
