Mrs. Nitah V. Whittington, 86, Topeka, died
Monday in a local convalescent center.
She was born Feb. 11, 1885 at Missouri Valley,
Iowa. She had lived in Topeka five years,
coming here from Independence. She had
lived in Rossville and St. Marys communities
for many years.
She was married to John W. Whittington in
Oberlin in 1902. He died in 1966.
She was a member of St. David's Episcopal
Church; Artha Chapter, Order of the Eastern
Star, St. Marys; and Sue Lovell Chapter,
Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil
War.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Frances
Lemon, Topeka and Mrs. Leah Berry, Wichita;
a brother, Frank McGonigle, Independence,
Kan; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-
grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by
Parker Mortuary. Burial will be in Rossville
Cemetery.
