    Mr. and Mrs. Albert Besta of Wamego celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at the TradeWinds Cafe in Wamego Saturday night with their relatives and friends.

    Mr. and Mrs. Besta are the parents of five children. All except their son, Averill Startup of Aspen, Colorado, were able to attend.

    Mr. and Mrs. Albert Besta, Wamego, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house Sunday, Feb. 1 in the Knights of Columbus Hall in Wamego.

    Friends and relatives are invited to call between 2 and 4 p.m. The couple requests that no gifts be presented.

    Hosts for the reception will be their children, Averill Startup, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; Mrs. Velma Colter and Mrs. Helen Richard, Topeka; Mrs. Marie Brazzle and Mrs. Phyllis Mays, Wamego.

    Mr. and Mrs. Besta were married Feb. 6,1926 in Topeka and have lived in the Wamego community 40 years. They have 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

    AGNES BESTA
    Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego for Mrs. Agnes Besta, 94, Wamego. She died late Sunday, October 6, 1985, at a Wamego nursing home where she had been the past 10 years.
    She was born February 21, 1891, at Rossville, the daughter of Ben and Eliza George Reser. She moved to Wamego from Rossville in 1937.
    She was a former member of the United Brethren Church at Delia.
    She was married to Garleton Startup January 31, 1912. He died October 22, 1922. She was married to Albert Besta February 26, 1926, in Topeka. He survives. A daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Mays, died April 16, 1982.
    Other survivors include a son, Averill Startup, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Brazzle, Wamego, and Mrs. Velma Colter and Mrs. Helen Richard, both of Topeka; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great- great- grandchildren.
    Burial was in Wamego City Cemetery. Memorial con-tributions may be made to Valley Vista Nursing Home at Wamego.

    Mrs. Agnes Besta
