Father John Erickson officiated the 2 p.m. nuptial mass. The bride is the daughter of the late Oscar and Charlotte Bixby. The groom’s parents are the late John and Viola Cummings. Jim Hinterweger escorted his mother to the altar. Her daughter, Cindy Priddy, was matron of honor. Courtney Priddy was the flower girl. Best man for the groom was his brother, Anthony Cummings. Ashley Armstrong was the ringbearer. Ushers were Mike Hinterweger and Bob Cummings. Music for the ceremony was provided by June Burgett and Peggy Verschelden. Alice Seitz read the scriptures. Bryan Hinterweger, Ryan Cummings, Shawn Cummings and Damian Cummings presented the gifts for the mass. Kyle Hinterweger and Heidi Hinterweger were the servers. Crystal Hinterweger attended the guest book. Mrs. Cummings has four children and eight grandchildren. Mr. Cummings has six children and seven grandchildren. Following the mass, a reception and dinner were held at the Moose Lodge in Topeka. The couple took a honeymoon trip to Hawaii and are now at home in St. Marys.

  Obituary- Cummings, Leonard LEONARD L. CUMMINGS Leonard L. Cummings 81, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the St. Marys Manor. He was born March 21, 1936 at Mayetta the son of John and Viola Jones Cummings. Leonard was one of 13 children, John, Francis, Cornelius, Gerald, Theodore, Anthony Richard, Vera, Theresa, Millie, Margaret and Mary. He grew up on the reservation and gradu¬ated from Mayetta High School and joined the Navy Reserves as a senior. Leonard worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Topeka from 1954 until his retirement in 1992. He had coached the youth of St. Marys in softball, baseball and basketball. Leonard was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Council No. 657 of the Knights of Columbus in St. Marys. He was an avid KU Jayhawk fan. He was united in marriage to Joanne K. Bellinder on June 11, 1960. She preceded him in death on October 20, 1998. He married Betty Hinterweger on October 21, 2000, she survives. He was also preceded in death by a son, William J. “Bill" Cummings on March 24, 2004 and a step-son, Danny Hinterweger on August 16, 2016. Other survivors include sons, Bob (Kathy) Cummings, Belvue, Tim Cummings, Wamego, Mike (Melissa) Cummings, in Florida; step¬sons, Jim (Jan) Hinterweger, Lebo, Mike (Lisa) Hinterweger, Overbrook; daughters, Lorye (Charlie) Armstrong, Wamego and Lisa (Aaron) Lyman, Topeka; a step-daughter, Cindy (Kasey) Priddy, Silver Lake; 21 grandchildren and 7 great¬grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 9, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mr. Cummings laid in state on Thursday from 6:00 until the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
