 | Obituary- Hollenbeck, Margarett Mrs. Hollenbeck Dead
Mrs. Margaret Hollenbeck died last Saturday morning at 2:00 o'clock after an illness of several months duration. Mrs. Hollenbeck's death was due primarily to a general breaking down of her constitution, brought on my stomach trouble. During the past month she has hardly eaten anything and the manner in which she held on was little less than marvelous. Mrs. Hollenbeck was one of the earliest settlers of this county coming here when but a small girl with her parents and located near old Indianola and from there she went to Vermillion, Kan., where she stayed several years. About 22 years go she moved to Rossville where she has since resided.
Margaret View [sic Margarett Vieux] was born on March 15, 1837 at Council Bluff, Iowa. At the age of eight years she came to Kansas with her parents. She was married three times her first husband being John Young. To this union four children were born, two of whom remain to mourn her death, Mrs. Abe LaFrombois, of Silver Lake, and Mrs. Kate View, of Topeka. Years after the death of her first husband she was united in marriage with Lew Stephens. He died in the eighties. On Dec. 6, 1894 she was united in marriage with L.J. Hollenbeck of this city. Mrs. Hollenbeck is survived by her husband, L.J. Hollenbeck, two daughters, Mrs. LaFrombois and Mrs. View and three sisters, Mrs. Madeline Nadeau, Mrs. Sophie Johnson, of Shawnee, Okla. and Mrs. Rachael Thurber, of Rossville.
The funeral was held Sunday from the Catholic church, conducted by Father Hill and interment was made in the Rossville cemetery. |
