    Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Mitchell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner held Sunday, July 1, at their home. The couple's eight children and their families were present for the occasion.

    Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell were married at Alma on June 23. Hi06, and have lived most of their married site in the Maple Hill and Rossville communities. Mr. Mitchell is a retired farmer. There are 26 grand children and six great grandchildren.

    Members of the family present for the dinner were: Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mitchell and family of Circleville. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Polson of Holton, Mrs. Ruby Adams and daughter from Idaho.     ON 54th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
    Mr. and Mrs. George Mitchell were honored guests at a dinner Sunday in celebration of their 54th wedding anniversary.

    The dinner was given at the home of Mrs. Roxie Nadeau.     Roxie M. Nadeau Banta
    Roxie M. Nadeau Banta, 95, of Silver Lake, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011.
    She was born October 8, 1915 in Westmoreland, KS, the daughter of George and Ethel (Lister) Mitchell.
    She was employed as a Food Service Manager for Rossville and later Silver Lake School Districts.
    She was a former member of Rossville United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a current member of Silver Lake United Methodist. She had volunteered for the Kansas Museum of History and was very active in the Silver Lake Senior Citizen Center.
    Roxie married Paul Edward Nadeau in 1935 in Lyndon, KS. He passed away in 1958. She married Darwin Banta in 1965 in Ross¬ville. He passed away in 1981. Survivors include 7 children, Jeanette (Gerald) Lister, Edmond, OK, Jean (Richard) Holzmeister, Lawrence, KS, Sally Carnevale, San Mateo, CA, Susan Nadeau, Shawnee, KS, Michael (Claudia) Nadeau, Silver Lake, KS, David (Gay) Nadeau and Dennis Nadeau, Rossville, KS; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a sister, Ruby Adams, Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 4 sisters, and 2 grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church, 204 Madore St., Silver Lake, KS 66539. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service time. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Grove, KS. Mrs. Banta will lie in state from 3-8 p.m., Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.     Roxie M. Nadeau Banta, 95, of Silver Lake, passed away Feb. 14, 2011.

    She was born Oct. 8, 1915, in Westmoreland, the daughter of George and Ethel (Lister) Mitchell.

    Survivors include seven children, Jeanette Lister and husband Gerald of Edmond, Okla., Jean Holzmeister and husband Richard of Lawrence, Sally Carnevale of San Mateo, Calif., Susan Nadeau of Shawnee, Michael Nadeau and wife Gay and Dennis Nadeau, all of Rossville; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Adams of Portland, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, four sisters, and two grandchildren.

    Funeral services were Feb. 19 at Silver Lake United Methodist Church, 204 Madore St., Silver Lake, KS 66539. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service time. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Grove.
