    CELEBRATE FIFTY-EIGHTH
    WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
    Mr. and Mrs. David Hartzell were given a surprise Tuesday evening by their children and grand children who went in, to help them celebrate their fifty-eighth wedding anniversary. Ice cream and cake and coffee were served.

    Mr. and Mrs. Hartzell were married at Rossville, February 21, 1875 by the Methodist minister of Rossville.

    Mr. Hartzell came to Rossville in 1868, and in 1872 opened a drug store and continued in that business until 1927 when he retired on account of ill health.

    Mrs. Hartzell who before her marriage was Miss Matilda Boots came from Penn Yan, New York, in 1872, with her father, the late B. F. Boots and her brother M. J. Boots.

    They are the parents of five children, all of whom are living. Ernest D. Hartzell, L. P. Hartzell of Rossville; Mrs. Edna Salley of Silver Lake; Frank D. Hartzell of Chillicothe, Ill., and Melvin B. Hartzell of Seattle, Washington. There are twenty-two grand children and five great grand children.

    The Reporter desires to express the sentiment of Rossville and community in extending heartiest congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Hartzell upon the completion of their fifty-eight years of married life.

    “Daddy and Grandma” Hartzell are still enjoying an active life and comparatively good health.

    Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hartzell of Chillicothe, Illinois, arrived in Rossville this (Thursday) morning to attend the 60th wedding anniversary dinner of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Hartzell given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Hartzell.

    Married 61 Years
    Mr. and Mrs. David Hartzell will observe the 61st anniversary of their wedding Friday of this week February 21. Both are sick and confined to their house at present, but slowly improving. Their many friends extend congratulations on this eventful anniversary.

    SILVER LAKE—Many friends and relatives attended the reception at the Silver Lake Methodist Church Sunday afternoon, June 26, to celebrate the Golden Wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Salley, Silver Lake.

    The serving table was covered with a linen table cloth purchased more than 50 years ago by Mrs. Salley for her mother. She had double hemstitched the hem by hand. The cut glass dishes and silver spoons used for nuts and mints were wedding gifts.

    Relatives of Mrs. Salley who poured punch were Mrs. Allyn Hartzell, Topeka; Mrs. Gary Bailey. Topeka; and Mrs. Philip Hartzell, Rossville. Mrs. Vernon Wyatt, Mrs. Albert Shafer and Mrs. A. J. Thomas, all of Silver Lake, served cake.

    Mrs. L. P. Hartzell, Rossville, and Mrs. Vernon Fritz, Silver Lake had charge of the guest book. Mrs. Ethel Landis and Mrs. Herbert Whitehead of Silver Lake were in charge of gifts.

    The only guest present Sunday who was also present at the wedding 50 years ago was Mr. L. P. Hartzell, brother of Mrs. Salley.

    Members of the original wedding party were: Mr. Dudley Pratt, who furnished the wedding music; Rev. John H. Lamb, Mrs. Ethel Bar¬ren (Ellis), La Mesa, Calif.; Mrs. E. E. Hill (Nelle Nason), Topeka- Mrs. Henry Davis (Emma Ford), Rossville; Mrs. Edna Gililland (Edna Smith), Topeka.
