    Ceremonies mark 50 years of marriage for the Kerwins
    Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Kerwin, Delia, celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary, Sunday, June 26, beginning with a Mass of thanksgiving at 9:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church of Delia. The Rev. George Seuferling, pastor, was the celebrant, when the couple renewed their wedding vows.

    Mr. and Mrs. Kerwin were married in the same church on June 28, 1916, and have spent their entire life in the Delia community.

    Servers at the Mass were a grandson, Michael Kerwin, and Duane Scott, both of Delia.

    The original attendants, Mrs. Grace Cowan, of Delia, and Roy Murry, Topeka; Mrs. Josephine Murry, Topeka, a sister of Mrs. Kerwin, and Mrs. Jim Hamilton, Partridge, a sister of Mr. Kerwin, were present.

    A large basket of yellow gladioli, a gift of the sons and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hamilton and Miss Helen Hamilton grace the church altar.

    A dinner honoring the golden jubilarians was held at 11:00 a.m. in the Delia High School, prepared by ladies of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, and served by Barbara and Delores Simecka, Sheila Brock, and Darlene Scott. Covers were laid for the following guests:
    Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Kerwin, Mr. and Mrs. John Cowan, Delia; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Murry, Mrs. Josephine Murry, Mrs. Don Christie, Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hamilton and Miss Helen Hamilton, Partridge;
    Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Kerwin, Marita, Jean, Michael, Janet, and Kevin, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kerwin, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Kerwin, Bobby and Terri, Duane Scott, all of Delia; Leo Kerwin, and Miss Virginia Bowman, Kansas City, Kansas.

    Candelabra, with gold tapers, red carnations sprayed with gold (a gift of the Altar Society), centered the main dining table. Leo Kerwin was emcee; Kenneth Kerwin gave the toast; Bob Kerwin, the invocation; Clinton Kerwin, benediction. Mrs. R.A. Kerwin and daughter Marita, played and sang for the group, dedicating "Adoration" to the honored couple. The grandchildren also sang a special number for their grandparents.

    A reception, arranged by Mrs. R.A. Kerwin, was held from two to four o'clock in the Delia High School auditorium.

    The serving table was covered with a white linen cloth. Two candelabra holding yellow tapers and cascading yellow mums, flanked the wedding cake.

    Presiding at the punch bowl was Miss Helen Hamilton. Mrs. Ray Dohrman, St. Marys, a niece of Mrs. R.E. Kerwin, and Mrs. Leo Hanrahan served the wedding cake.

    At the gift table we're Mrs. Kenneth Kerwin and Miss Virginia Bowman. Mrs. Clinton Kerwin, who had fashioned the money tree, was in charge of money gifts.

    Marita Kerwin took care of the guest book, and Jean and Janet Kerwin distributed satin remembrance roses to the guests. The roses were hand-fashioned by Mr. and Mrs. John Marshall of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; Mrs. Marshall is a sister of Mrs. R.A. Kerwin.

    Mrs. Sylvester Scott, Delia, baked the three-tiered wedding cake, which was trimmed in gold and with golden bells. The sheet cakes were made by Mrs. Clinton Kerwin.

    On display at the reception were pictures of the honored couple and their family, gleaned from the past 50 years. The display was arranged by Leo Kerwin. Topping the pictures were the Kerwin-Hanrahan crests, which Leo had purchased while touring Europe last summer.

    A bouquet of large gold chrysanthemums, presented by Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McLin of Grove, was placed near the serving table.

    Mrs. Robert E. Kerwin wore a corsage of yellow cymbidium orchids; Mr. Kerwin, a yellow rose boutonniere; Mrs. Cowan, a corsage of yellow rosebuds; the two sisters, corsages of yellow roses and carnations. The wives of the Kerwin sons, and those assisting at the reception, wore corsages of yellow carnations. Mr. Murry and the sons had boutonnieres of yellow carnations.
