| Birth- Martinek, Kristi and Melissa It's Definitely a Family Affair
Duane and Lori Martinek, Rossville, announce the birth of their daughter, Kristi Lee, at 7:50 a.m. Sunday, August 14, 1983. Kristi was 20 1/2 inches long and weighed seven pounds, 11 ounces.
But that's not the end of this story. Monday morning, August 15, Larry Martinek took his wife, Claire, (who also live in Rossville) to the hospital. Early that afternoon Melissa Diane was born. Melissa was 20 1/2 inches long and weighed nine pounds, three ounces.
The two sisters-in-law were roommates at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka and shared the same night nurse.
The night nurse was (you guessed it!) another Martinek. Diane Martinek is the wife of Ron Martinek, Silver Lake.
Mothers, fathers, baby girls and all the grandparents did just fine, according to nurse Diane.
Lori and Duane brought Kristi home on Tuesday. Claire and Larry brought Melissa home Saturday.
Ask Grandpa Bill or Grandma Helen Martinek at the Rossville Truck and Tractor about that wild weekend!! They'll be happy to tell you about it.
