| Anniversary- Ford, Henry and Mary Their Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Ford celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary last Sunday by a family reunion. The exact date of the anniversary was the day previous and owing to the inability of the sons and daughters to be present the gathering was postponed one day. Two daughters with their families, of Oklahoma, were not present but the other children, Henry Ford and family of Topeka, Ben Ford and family of Delia, Mrs. Emma Enos and daughter, of Oklahoma City, Sherman James an family, and Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Parr and daughter were present.
Mr. and Mrs. Ford have looked forward to this occasion for some time, both because it is an event celebrated by few couples and because it was a date set for the homecoming of all their children. The dinner was prepared and served by the daughters, Mrs. Ford being in ill health at this time.
Mr. and Mrs. Ford were married July 18, 1864 in Manhattan, Kan. They settled in this community on the old home farm southwest of Rossville, long before the present town was started. From a piece of most unpromising timber land they kept working away clearing and improving from time to time until it was worth nearly as much an acre as Mr. Ford was offered for the whole piece in the early days. About six years ago Mr. and Mrs. Ford moved to Rossville to rest and enjoy the fruits of their many years labors.
The Reporter wishes to extend to Mr. and Mrs. Ford its heartiest congratulations and trust their usual good health will permit them to celebrate many more wedding anniversaries.
-------
Saturday, July 18, will be the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Ford, and the occasion will be celebrated by a family reunion. Mrs. Lulu Ward and children, of Lexington, Okla., and Mrs. Alice Hubyca, of Oklahoma City, are expected here and Mr. and Mrs. Ford hope to have every child and grandchild with them on this day

| Birthday- Ford, Mary 1 Mrs. Mary Ford has her "Twentieth" Birthday
The "twentieth" birthday anniversary of Mrs. Mary Ford of this city was celebrated yesterday by herself, relatives and friends in a very quiet way, the event being mainly observed in calls made during the day.
Having been born on February 29, eighty-four years ago, there have been only twenty February 29th in her life, the year 1900 not being counted as a leap year.
Mrs. Ford still maintains her home and enjoys fairly good health. Her many friends join the Reporter in extending greetings. |
| Birthday- Ford, Mary 2 Enjoyed Rare Birthday
Mrs. Mary Ford, 80, was given a delightful surprise birthday anniversary dinner last Friday, February 29, by her children, who helped her celebrate her "20th birthday." In 1928 Mrs. Ford will celebrate her "coming of age" by the recurrence of her leap year birth date.
While all the Children were not present, each one participated in some manner to make it a merry event. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ford and family, of Silver Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman James and family came in unannounced at the noon hour with baskets well-laden and Mrs. Ford was presented with the following packages from her children who live in Oklahoma City: A delicious chocolate cake from Mrs. Emma Enos, a beautiful box of candy from Mrs. Lulu Ward and an angel food cake carrying 80 candles and sweet peas from Mrs. Alice Stuve.
During the day Mrs. Ford received many calls from her Rossville friends and was remembered with 41 birthday cards.
Mrs. Ford was born in Menden, Michigan, coming to Kansas when she was 19 years of age and has lived in and around Rossville since that time. She is enjoying good health and is still quite active, a fact her many friends here and friends living in other communities reached by the Reporter will be glad to know. |
| Birthday- Ford, Mary 3 Mrs. Mary Ford who celebrates a birthday anniversary only on Leap Year was given an "off-year" birthday dinner Sunday at her home by her children, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ford and family of Silver Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Sherman James. |
