    Wm. Baylis Died Sunday
Wm. Baylis died last Sunday, April 14, at the National Military Home, Leavenworth, after an illness of fourteen days with pneumonia and heart trouble. Mrs. Baylis and daughter, Mrs. Pauline Rezac were with him before the end came but had returned home just before his death. They returned Monday to attend the funeral which was given with all military honors. Interment was made in the beautiful National Cemetery in accordance with the wishes of Mr. Baylis.

Mr. Baylis was one of the earliest settlers of Rossville township. He also spent several years in Oklahoma, where he was admitted to the bar in 1896 to practice law. He returned to Rossville in 1898, which has been his home since that time.

He was born December 12, 1843 at Philadelphia, Pa., and was 77 years, 4 months and 12 days old at the time of his death. He served as a volunteer U.S. Marine in the civil war from 1861 to the close of the war. He had been a member of the Masonic lodge since 1866 and was a past master of Hesperian Lodge, Rossville.
