    Mr. and Mrs. Paul Martin, Rossville, announce the marriage of their youngest daughter, Wilma Pauline, to Mr. Clifford Bickford, son of Mrs. Nellie Bickford, Holton, and the late Mr. Roy Bickford.

    Rev. John A. Berens, St. Marys, officiated at the double ring ceremony which took place in Rossville at the St. Stanislaus Church Saturday, September 18, at nine o’clock.

    The bride wore a ballerina length white organdy dress over polished cotton under coat. Her lace veil caught to a coronet headdress, was shoulder length. She carried a white satin prayer book topped with an orchid. Her only jewelry was a strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom.

    Miss Sandra Magee, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a ballerina length gown of mint green taffeta. Her french cap headdress matched her gown and was covered with seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations and white daisies.

    Mr. Donald Jacobson attended Mr. Bickford as best man.

    The mother of the bride chose a pink dress with navy accessories and the bridegroom’s mother chose a lavendar dress with black accessories. Both wore corsages of pink carnations and roses.

    For traveling the bride chose a suit of black and white with white accessories. After a short wedding trip the couple will be at home in Fort Madison, Iowa.

    Mrs. Bickford is a graduate of Rossville High School and attended K.S.C. the past year. She was employed in Colorado this summer.

    Mr. Bickford is a graduate of Soldier High School, has served in the U. S. Army and is now employed by the Santa Fe Railroad.

    Clifford and Pauline Bickford, Maple Hill, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner and a card shower.

    Clifford Bickford and Pauline Martin were married Sept. 18, 1954, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville.

    Their children and spouses are Kathleen Snyder, Jackson Hole, Wyo.; Christina and Jim Bello, Cleveland, Tenn.; Joe and Carla Jackson, Hutchinson; and Darwin Bickford, Topeka. They have five grandchildren.

    Mr. Bickford is retired from Santa Fe Railway’s Communication Department.

    Mrs. Bickford is retired from food service with the Sterling (Kan.) School District.

    Clifford Neal Bickford
    MAPLE HILL- Clifford Neal Bickford, 79, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
    He was born August 5, 1930 at Waverly, the son of Roy and Nellie Cappen Bickford. He moved west of Holton and graduated from Soldier High School in 1940. Mr. Bickford served in the United States Army.
    He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad before moving to Sterling where he owned and operated SuperBe service station. He later returned to work for the railroad where he worked for many years before his retirement. He moved to the Maple Hill community in the late 90's. Mr. Bickford attended Christ the King Catholic Church in Topeka.
    On September 18, 1954 he was united in marriage to Pauline Martin in Rossville. She survives of the home.
    Other survivors include a son, Darwin Bickford, Springfield, MO; three daughters, Kathleen Snyder, Jackson Hole, WY, Christina (Jim) Bello, Chattanooga, TN, and Carla (Joey) Jackson, Hutch¬inson; three brothers. Kenneth and Leo Bickford, Holton and Leland Bickford, Pahrump, NV; two sisters, Betty Mayo, Filer, ID, and Janice Stewart, Topeka; five grandchildren, Jessica Feldt, Jeremy Jackson, Jerrad, Lauren and Connor Bickford.
    Funeral services for Mr. Bickford will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 15, 2010 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Interment will be in the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Bickford will lie in state from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, March 14th at the funeral home where family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00.
