    Mr. Joe Barney, Rossville's popular young barber quietly slipped out of town Tuesday morning and surprised his Rossville friends by returning Wednesday evening with a bride. The new Mrs. Barney was formerly Miss Anna [sic Alice] Belle Redmon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Redmon who live north of Delia.

    The daughter, nieces and nephews of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barney will be hosts for an open house in the United Methodist Church dining room at Silver Lake honoring Mr. and Mrs. Barney on their 50th wedding anniversary, February 23rd, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

    Alice Belle Redmond of Delia and Joseph D. Barney of Rossville were married in Lawrence February 24,1925. Their daughter is Mrs. Josephine Harkness. Their son. Dale, is deceased.

    All friends and relatives are invited to the open house.

    Mr. and Mrs. Joe D. Barney, Silver Lake, will be honored with a reception celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Feb. 23 in the Silver Lake Methodist Church.

    Friends and relatives are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. The couple asks that no gifts be presented.

    The reception will be given by their daughter, Mrs. Josephine Harkness, and their nieces and nephews, Donald Redmon, Lloyd Redmon, Edward Redmon, Mrs. Willard Bryant, Mrs. James Olson and Mrs. William Ballard, all of Topeka.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Silver Lake United Methodist Church for Dale Allen Barney, 40, Route 1, Hoyt, who died Sunday in a Topeka hospital where he was readmit¬ted Feb. 19. Earlier, he was admitted to the hospital Sept. 17, 1968, and released. He had a heart ailment.
    He was born Nov. 1, 1928, at Rossville. He was employed at the Topeka Goodyear Plant. He was a member of Silver Lake United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge No. 555 in Topeka, and United Rubber Workers of America.
    Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe D. Barney, Route 1, Hoyt; a sister, Mrs. Charles Harkness, DeKalb, Ill., and a brother, the Rev. Kenneth D. Barney, Houston, Tex.
    Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Parker Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn.
