Married Fifty Years
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hass, for forty-two years residents of Rossville township, were married fifty years ago last Sunday, January 5 and the event was fittingly celebrated at their home north of Rossville with a sumptuous dinner. The children and their families were the guests invited.
A few years after their marriage at Holton in 1869, Mr. and Mrs. Hass located on the present home place which at that time contained 40 acres, and through the many lean years of the 70s and 80s kept pegging away and thru their thrift have prospered and greatly increased the original little farm.
Their family consists of four daughters, Mrs. Charles Howerton, Mrs. G.S. Hoover and Mrs. D.N. Davis, of Rossville and Mrs. Nora Hoover, of Holton, and one son, Herman, who lives with his parents. There are five grand-daughters, two grandsons, one great grandson and one great granddaughter.
Mr. Hass is a veteran of the Civil War, being honorably discharged at the close of the war after seeing three years service.
