Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at St. Marys for John C. Heim, 57, St. Marys, who died Saturday night in a Topeka hospital. He had cancer and had undergone surgery in a Topeka hospital Dec. 1, 1972.
He was born Dec. 9, 1915 at St. Marys.
He had lived in Texas from 1936 to 1942 and returned to St. Marys in 1945. He entered the Army at Fort Sam Houston, Tex., and served three years in Iran during World War II. He was a carpenter and building contractor may years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Hoy-Heim Post of the American Legion at St. Marys.
He was married to Catherine Jo Brennan April 23, 1949 at St. Marys. She survives.
Other survivors include five sons, John C. Heim Jr., St. Marys, and Michael Heim, Daniel Heim, Gary Heim and Mark Heim, all at home; four daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Royer, Manhattan, and Nancy Heim, Peggy Heim and Shannon Heim, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Mary M. Heim, St. Marys; three brothers, James Heim, 1421 Boswell, and Robert and William Heim, both of St. Marys; a sister, Mrs. Helen Gibbons, Houston and a grandson.
Burial will be in Mount Calvery Cemetery at St. Marys. A wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. |
