| Anniversary- Stalker, Winfred and Anna Stalker Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Stalker celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary Sunday, August 13, 1950, at their home in Rossville. Mrs. Stalker was formerly Miss Anna Ward, daughter of pioneer farmers of Adrian, Mr. and Mrs. John Ward. She and Mr. Stalker were married at the home of her parents, with relatives and close friends present. They have resided in Jackson and Shawnee counties all their married life. They are the parents of five children, Mrs. Halcie Cerny of Rossville; Dr. Clinton L. Stalker of Topeka; Glen Stalker of Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Bess Lauck of Palo Alto, Calif.; and Capt. Orville Stalker of El Paso, Texas.
There was a beautiful three-tiered wedding cake with gold trimmings on a lovely lace tablecloth and bouquets of yellow roses and gladioli.
Mrs. Halcia Cerny poured at the punch bowl and Misses Edith and Marcia Cerny, granddaughters assisted. Marcia, dressed in an orchid formal, served and Edith, dressed in a blue formal had charge of the guest book.
Many nice gifts were received and a large number of cards. | Obituary- Stalker, Winfred W.A. Stalker Dies at Age 81; Rites Monday
W.A. (Fred) Stalker, 81, a farmer and cattleman of Rossville, died Saturday in a Topeka hospital.
He was born Aug. 27, 1879, in Adrian, and spent most of his life in Jefferson and Shawnee counties.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Frances Anna Stalker of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Halcia Cerny of Rossville and Mrs. Streight Lauch of Fresno, Calif.; three sons, Dr. Clinton L. Stalker of 1715 Webster, W. Glenn Stalker of Sacramento, Calif., Lt. Col. F.O. Stalker of the U.S. Army Field Hospital, Vincenza, Italy; a sister, Mrs. Emma Kirkpatric of Manhattan; a brother, Oren A. Stalker of San Jose, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with burial in the Delia Cemetery. |
