    Dwight and Margie Hoobler, Rossville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, January 12. A surprise reception, hosted by members of the Rossville United Methodist Church, followed the regular morning worship service.

    Dwight Hoobler and Margie Jean Lillard were married January 12, 1947, at the Rossville Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Hoobler have been life-long residents of the Rossville area, except for the three years Dwight served in the U.S. Army during World War 2.

    Special guests attending the reception were seven members of the 1945 graduating class of Rossville High School and many relatives of the couple, including Margie’s sister, Mrs. Thelma Short, St. Marys, who was a bridesmaid at the wedding.

    Dwight and Margie are the parents of two sons, David and Don.

    Margie J. (Lillard) Koobler
    Rossville-Margie J. Hoobler, 90, died Friday, December 1,2017 at Rossville Healthcare and Rehab, where she had resided since March 2017.

    She was born in Valencia on March 8,1927, the daughter of James R. and Myrtle Marney Lillard. At age 8 the family moved to Rossville where Margie attended school and was the salutatorian of the Class of 1945.

    Margie worked at the Supply Depot and later at the Auditors Office for the State Of Kansas until her marriage to Dwight R. Hoobler on January 17,1947. Dwight preceded her in death on January 3,2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mildred Wymore and Thelma Short; a brother, Jimmie L. Lillard.

    Survivors include two sons, David Bruce Hoobler, address unknown, and Don Eric Hoobler, Mulberry, Kansas; brothers-in law, Forrest Hoobler, Topeka, Everett Hoobler, Rossville, and Arlyn Hoobler, Washington State; many nieces and nephews.

    Per Margie’s wishes she was cremated. Memorial graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Rossville Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to the Rossville Methodist Church after the service to visit. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion and sent to Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
